Bose produce three versions of their docking station and the Sounddock 10 is the most expensive of the three, we paid £450.00 and we also got a £50 voucher for itunes as well however that £450 price is £50 cheaper than the normal retai price as we purchased one from the Bicester Village retail outlet that Bose have and here they seel factory refurbished models, basically these are ones that people have had on the 30 day trial basis and then returned. They look no different to the other models that have not been owned before as they are repackaged and you get the same rights in terms of your own 30 day trial.

We originally planned to purchase the smaller version which retails at £200 however the difference in sound quality was so noticeable and the extra size was not significant at all it was a no brainers and we have been delighted with our purchase and it was worth the extra £250 for the pure quality of the listening experience.

Set up is easy, you just connect the power source and then fit your ipod or iphone into the docking port and then it is ready to play. It will work with other mp3 players and the docking port can be lifted out at the front so that you can fit an adapter for other mp3 players so it is not just for Apple products. You can either operate it using the controls on the ipod or the small black remote control that comes with it, this has all of the basic functions on it that you need to control what is playing and adjust the volume.

It is a powerful piece of kit and we would certainly never have need for it to run at full volume however we did blast it out while in the shop and it was pretty impressive with some deep base sounds. It uses the Bose waveguide speaker technology to deliver high quality low notes, there was a noticeable difference in quality between the two models we tested.

There are sockets on the back to allow you to attach an auxillary device to the system so provided you have the right lead you can play cd's through the speakers as well as playing video content from your ipod through your TV, something we have not tried to do yet. While the ipod is docked it is also taking charge at the same time so is ready to use when you remove it and want to hear music on the move. The only slight niggle I have is that there is no cover for the docking port when it is not in use to stop dust getting into it, we tend to cover it with the remote which is quite small and therefore does a dual role, keeps dust out and also means we are less likely to use the remote which costs about £20 to replace.

It is a simple design but very stylish looking and for the money the sound quality really is crystal clear and exceptional. It is certainly a product that I would fully recommend.
