Advantages: simple to set up and use, great recording quality Disadvantages: slower than a drunk snail, no HDMI
...I recently aquired a Sony DVD recorder (RDR-GXD360). The Sony has freeview built in and a good reputation for audio visual quality. Set up was easy, I used the smart link connection between DVD and TV which means you can operate alot of the TV functions by the DVD remote which saves on fiddling around with two handsets.
There's no hard drive but you can record onto most DVD media except dual-layered DVD-R and DVD-RAM discs. It has a number of recording modes, which gives aropund 2.5 hours on the LSP mode, 3 hours on ESP, 4 hours on the LP mode and up 8 hours to SLP mode, obviously that effects the quality of the recording. It has EPG (Electronic programme guide) which makes selecting programmes to record easy.
You also have the benefit of being able to watch one thing on tv and record another on the dvd at the same time...

Advantages: Easy to use & set up, good price. Disadvantages: Localisation issues, lack of spoken information with TrafficMaster and Safety Cameras
...The unit is relatively simple to set up and use, though it is too easy to mis-hit the touch sensitive screen, this is especially annoying when entering the pin (if using the security feature).
Accuracy in urban areas and on trunk routes is generally good, but becomes quite poor in hilly terrain. In the Lake District it tried to send me down dead-end farm tracks several times!
The Traffic Master facility (360 T) and Safety Camera database are both useful, but best used with a passenger's assistance as warnings are not spoken, only issued with a sign and/or text accompanied by one or two 'bongs' but this is not much help, and potentially quite dangerous, if the driver's eyesight is less than perfect.
There are some issues with localisation, for example "slip roads" become "ramps", "junctions" become "exits" and the choice...

Advantages: Better Clarity to visuals Disadvantages: Some old Xbox games wont run via this cable
...If you are currently running your XBOX 360 through a TV using the supplied RGB Cables then you are missing out on the power of the 360.
When I first bought mine in December 2005 I was using the supplied RGB Cables , this was o.k I was happy with the result , But I wanted desperately to try the HD modes .
I had visions of spending £600+ On a New Fangled HDTV from the local Argos Until I read that Literally any old PC monitor would run the XBOX 360 in HDTV mode with these cables !!!
I spent my hard earned cash on a set & hooked them up to my Relisys LCD TV ( P.C Monitor & TV all in one) Using the VGA Input . I went to the settings for the 360 & changed to it to 1360 x 768 .
The Difference was unbelievable !! , trust me you WILL NOT want to plug those old RGB cables in after this . Everything is much clearer , Crisper & better...
