Boss BR-900CD Digital Recorder

...I had been searching for the right delay pedal for a few years and i had read a lot of good press about the Boss DD5. My Friend had an earlier version (DD2 or 3) and as i liked the range of effects on that peddle i took a gamble and purchased a DD5. I managed to purchase a second hand DD5 (this cost me £95). I believe that new they are around £150 mark, so they aint cheap that's for sure. The good news is that it is an absolute beauty. Firstly, the sheer amount of variations of delay is incredible. From straight forward delay variations to backwards loops to an ability to press and hold the footpedal and record a phrase which is then repeated for`ever whilst you play something neat over the top of it. Advantages: Massive smooth sound, nice EQ, built like a tank

...or Sepultura crunch with boosted upper mid-range grit. Without these controls this would be just a normal distortion but this feature allows you to create a huge range of different sounds. The final control is the distortion amount dial. This control is a little odd as from the bottom to about halfway up it produces sounds from a mild crunching to a full on thrash frenzy but from halfway to the top it just seems to compress the distortion more and more instaed of adding more fuzz. This is not actually a bad thing as it allows you to get that kind of massively compressed digital Nine Inch Nails guitar sound at it's full value without having to use any extra effects. Advantages: Makes Guitars Sound Better

...Acoustic guitars sound rubbish which is why Electric guitars were invented, then someone realised that Electric Guitars sounded rubbish on their own so amplifiers were invented. Electric Guitars still sounded rubbish, and then someone invented electricity. This improved the sound of electric guitars immeasurably, but they still did not sound great, until world famous wife beater Ike Turner played through an amp with a ripped speaker cone creating a Fuzz Effect. Ike did not like it but Sam Phillips said that it was good so the first fuzz guitar was recorded. Nowadays rather than mutilate our amplifiers.
