General Information ----------------------- Boundary Mill, is an out let store selling men's and ladies wear for a reduced price compared to shop prices. There are many of these outlet stores around the UK.Boundary Mill has several outlet stores, in Newcastle, Colne, Walsall and Grantham. I visited the Walsall store as it is the closest one to me. It opened 1st November 2003 and it's the newest store.
How to get there ------------------ Boundary Mill, Wasall is located just off Junction 10 of the M6. It is on the Black Country Route. As you come off the motorway turn left at the traffic lights and follow the AA signs to the store. It is very easy to find and is located in an industrial estate. There is plenty of car parking, and we managed to find a space even on a Saturday.
Opening times ---------------- They are open every day of the week! Monday to Friday 10am till 8pm Saturday 9am till 6pm Sunday 11am till 5pm
For bank holidays they are open from 10am till 6pm but I would think that this is the busiest time to visit. They are closed on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.
The store ----------- The store itself is really big. It is on one floor making it accessible for everyone. At the entrance of the store there is a cafe called BB's coffee shop. For free croissants & coffee get there between 10am and 11am. The coffee is great and the croissants are delicious! I noticed that the prices of the food wasn't bad and the food looked really nice.
The clothes department ----------------------------------- The floor is split up into different sections. On the left is the men's ware and the right is the ladies sections and they meet in the middle. In these sections are further sections that are made up of different designers and brands. This made shopping really easy as you could easily spot a particular brand of clothing. The first designers you come across are targeted at the older women with designers such as Liz Clairbourne and Alexon. Many of the brands where selling very glamorous ball gowns and cocktail dresses at very cheap prices for around £30.00 and upwards. My favourite brands that where there where Planet, Pilot, Elle, and box fresh. There are so many I couldn't possibly list them all! In the various brands there are signs telling you of the discounts and many of the brands had there own £10 or £15 bargain rail. The prices where reasonable and much cheaper than in the shops. it didn't tell you the actual percentage but on most price tags it gave you the shop price and their price which was nice to see! Within each range there where lots of clothes to choose from and I was impressed with the Elle range as it had a lot of clothes there. At the end of the clothes section there is a further clothes section for teenagers with younger clothing.
Shoes and bags -------------------------- After the clothing section there are some steps and you come to the shoe and bag section. I didn't noticed a ramp for wheel chair users. They had a small but good selection of ladies leather handbags, but the prices weren't much cheaper than the shops. This section also included luggage from shops such as Jane shilton. I was disappointed with the shoe section as they didn't have any fashion shoes, mainly sandals or trainers and the style was again aimed at the older shopper.
Cook shop ---------------- After that there is the home ware section which is vast to say the least. There is so much in this section and the variety is massive and there is something for everyone's taste here from expensive to cheap, from basis to stainless steel and all kitchen accessories, gadgets etc. The prices in this section where great and a lot cheaper than the high street. I was tempted to buy so much from here including a stainless steel food warmer that had tea lights in. Again there are some big names in this section including bodum and la cafetiere. The floor is so well laid out and it is really easy to find what you are looking for.
Glass and china ----------------------- As you wonder on through you come to the dinner service section which also includes glass ware. Again the selection is massive and the prices are good. Wedgewood and Edinburgh Crystal can be found here as well as Royal Worcester. On the website it states that only the Walsall and Newcastle stores have Glass and china departments. You can buy single items to a whole matching dinner service. As we where looking at the china there where notices advertising Boundary Mill's Wedding Service. For more details on this I would contact them direct through their website www.boundarymill.co.uk
Marks and Spencer's Outlet ------------------------------------------
Within the outlet lies another outlet from Marks and Spencer. The range is small and limited but if they have got what you are after then you could end up buying a bargain. They had some items from their new Per Una range and they where discounted but I hadn't seen the clothes in the shop and I would say that they where most suited for the older shopper. They had a good selection of Lingerie and sleep ware and I found a pair of knickers for £1! Bargain. They had their own shop assistants around the outlet and their own tills too.
Around the whole Boundary Mill store there where many shop assistants dotted around. they where easy to spot as they had a green uniform. But we did have a small problem with some of the shop staff watching us and following us around which was intimidating at times. As you approached the tills there is a separate section for ladies Lingerie and wedding hats. There where changing rooms dotted around the store but they only ones we noticed where around the lingerie section. They where manned by a shop assistant and the changing rooms where clean and tidy. Just before the tills was a small section for the perfumes. They had a really good selection of top brands including Burberry, Ralph Loren, Dior, Chanel and many others. The prices where very cheap and the bottles where priced at £20.00 and upwards. They also had some lovely perfume gift sets which included perfume and a body lotion, great for presents starting at £20.00.Overall this store is great if
You want to buy a ball gown for a special occasion,
If you are the older woman shopper
If you want to buy gifts or home ware
As we didn't fit into these categories we walked away empty handed and dashed off to the fort shopping centre which is only 15 minutes away. For more information about this outlet store visit thier website www.boundarymill.co.uk
Advantages: Excellent quality goods, at discount prices, all under one roof. Disadvantages: the day isn't long enough, the credit card isn't big enough! Seriously though I suppose it would be lack of help, and queues at busy times.
Boundary Mill have a wonderful array of goods on two floors of two large buildings. They are next door to Asda in Colne in Lancashire, just off junction 14 of the M65, and it is well worth a visit. They seem to sell everything – Good makes of ladies and men’s wear; a wonderful lingerie dept; bags, luggage and shoes; bedding, curtains & towels; pots & pans; glassware & crystal; even perfume. I live near to Boundary mill and on the two occassions i've been there, i couldn't get out fast enough. Boundary mill is at the end of the M65 motorway in Colne, Lancashire. Many of you will have probably seen the cheesy adverts on T.V. Many people think it's cheap, and i have to agree that in certain areas the products are cheap such as mugs! However, i think it is quite expensive if you're on a budget (like me!!!). The store is huge and on two ... ...to beautiful cushions and throws. Boundary mill has a clothing department that stocks designer goods such as Ben Sherman. There is also a cafe-but be warned, it can get VERY busy! Bounday mill shares its site with ASDA, so you can do your weekly shop too! The downside to the site is that there's a sewage works, a tip and an abbatoir only a stones throw away. I know that certain coach companies do coach journeys up to Boundary Mill so it might be ...
