Blush Bourjois Rose De Jaspe

I bought this blusher because my previous one was smashed to smithereens and wasn't really doing much for me. I first spotted it in Next and it really caught my attention because it looks so cute. I've used Bourjois products before and it's gave me a good impression so I thought I'd give the blusher a go too. I especially loved the colour and the added extras that made it special and so I went out and bought it from Boots.

It comes in a pink round plastic container and is the same colour as the blusher, with gold writing on the front saying 'BlushBourjois Paris 95 Rose De Jaspe'. Usually I find that with blushers there is a window so that you can see exactly the colour you're buying, but I liked the fact that it was different and colourful. On the bottom of the pot there is a sticker with the barcode and weight, which is 2,5g, and it can fit into the palm of your hand. Overall it looks quite basic because minimal colours are used, but it makes it look really professional especially with the gold writing. There are 12 different shades to choose from but I can't honestly say that they were all in the shop. That may have been a good thing though, because I must have tried every single blusher they had on my hands and I came out looking like the pink panther! The cololurs range from light browns to pale pinks and you can buy them from Superdrug (£4.75), Boots (£4.75), Next (£7.25) and asos.com (£6.25).

There is a gold push button at the front to open the blusher. When you open it you are greeted with a lovely scent like powder and roses which I wasn't expecting - I didn't know that anybody made scented blushers so it was a nice surprise. The first thing you notice is of course the mirror, it is nicely placed above the blusher and is only a few centimetres in diameter but is large enough for just checking or adding a bit of blusher. Sometimes with some makeup mirrors I find that they aren't very clear or sometimes a bit distorted which I'm glad to say wasn't the case with this one, and also I sometimes find that the powder gets onto the mirror and ruins it slightly, but there is a brush between them both so that never happens. The brush is one of the best features, and I think it's great because it fits like a cover over the dome-shaped blusher instead of it being in a separate compartment. Half of the brush is light pink plastic where you hold it and the other half is where the brush is. The brush is actually really soft to touch and makes applying the blusher a better experience, and because of its unusual shape it fits perfectly over your cheek so you get a more even finish which was really clever. When you first open the blusher there is a circular shaped note inside with tips for applying from Bourjois in French and English. Then you get to the blusher bit.

I'm quite pale so I bought one of the lighter shades out of the collection. As I mentioned before, it is in a dome like shape and it has swirls going round from the centre.

I usually use the brush on it in a circular motion so as not to lose all the lovely swirls, and you only need to do it once to get a sufficient amount of powder on the brush. It is a very fine powder that has a lovely texture to it so it feels really nice on the skin when you are applying it. The powder also has lots of subtle shimmery bits in it too to make your cheeks look glowing and healthy. It doesn't look 'in-your face' once you've applied it but of course that depends on how much you put on and what colour you choose. It feels very velvety and it is easy to blend or layer. My previous blusher didn't even last half of the day and always came off, but I was surprised to find out that it had actually lasted until I wiped my makeup off in the evening, and also because you only need one sweep of the brush on each cheek it will mean that it will last me a long time too. To remove it was easier than anything, I just used a makeup wipe and it was gone and it didn't leave my skin feeling all dried out or spotty the next day either.

The blusher has been a beauty award winner for 2007 and it is Bourjois' best seller which must say something. It has also been seen on major celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow which I was stunned at. The things I most like about the blusher are the little round pot, the mini brush because it is so soft, the design and most of all the powder. It really lights up your face and definitely gives outstanding results, so I would highly recommend it to those people who just want something that gives a subtle, rosy, natural looking glow. The price was a little high for me as a teenager but it was well worth it and I would definitely buy it again. Recommended!
