I started using the Bourjois little round pot blushers around 6 or 7 years ago when I was working next door to a Boots and constantly trying new make up to see what worked for my skin without blocking my pores.
I picked up the little round pot of blusher for around £6 or £7 back then but I know nowadays it costs around £7.50 which is great for the amount of time they last – I haven’t bought a new pot since purchasing the first ones back in 2006! So they do last a very long time and so far are showing no signs of finishing any time soon.
I have this blusher in 2 shades, I have a bronze shade which is called Santal-92 and a pink shade called Lilas D’or-33. I often alternate which shade I wear or occasionally wear both together blended very well.
I tend to use these blushers on an everyday basis and I usually use them for a natural look – I opt for Mac make up for special occasions.
The brown I use mostly as an everyday bronzer as it’s the perfect shade for my light/medium olive skin, I apply it with a blush brush onto my cheeks, nose and chin. I start of using a small amount and build if I need to. I have tried to use the bronze shade to contour my cheekbones but I find for me it is a bit too bronze and shimmery to pull off for contouring.
I use the pink shade less often than the bronze simply because I prefer the bronzed look to the pink blushing cheeks look… but saying that this shade of pink is very light and with one layer it’s barely there but you do notice the definite hint of shimmer. It takes a couple of layers to even notice any signs of pink and by that point I find there is too much shimmer on my cheeks which I tend to blend away. Lilas D’or is a very subtle shade of pink and not much a pigmented pink so it’s definitely not the kind of shade to create a dramatically blushed cheek but is more so great for everyday use for a natural look.
Out of the 2 I prefer the Bronze/brown 92-Santal.
Nowadays I notice Bourjois have so many colours on display; they do spoil us for choice with colours and for me I would need a second opinion on which shade to choose if I were to purchase a new colour. But I think this wide choice of colours would certainly cater to most skin colours.
The blushers literally come in a little round pot, with 2.5g of product. The pot comes with a tiny compact brush which to be totally honest did nothing for me in terms of application so I decided to put it away. When the pot is opened there is a little mirror on the inside of the lid – which again to be honest I have never even looked into simply because it is too small.
One downside of the packaging is that both of my blush pots have broken in one way or another. The bronze blush pot lid had completely detached from the pot and I’ve had to keep it together with a piece of sticky tape – of course this does nothing to protect my make up bag and it broke not long after I bought it.
The pink blush pot’s click mechanism broke so it doesn’t close properly and just flaps open and again I remember this happening fairly close to the time of purchase.
This blusher is great for everyday; it does not block my pores at all or break me out in spots. It stays on much of the day and looks great. It is very easily removed and if you do apply too much it is also very easy to blend out.
