The sausages themselves are nothing unusual to look at, they are sausages after all and not something invented in a laboratory, they have a slightly darker pink look about them compared to Walls sausages and a nice sausage meat aroma when you initially open the packet.

When it comes to sausages I am really fussy which is most unlike me as tend to like most things but sausages, they have to be just so, not gristle or fatty bits - yuk. My sausages have to be either hand made in my local farm shop preferably or Bowyers sausages. Bowyers are the only sausages I will buy for myself from the supermarket as I detest the taste of all the others.

Cooking the sausages, again there is no mystery, grill, fry, barbeque or throw them on your George Foreman grill, for those who aren't sure there are cooking instructions on the back of the packet, particularly useful I feel for those who have just left home, students and the like who have never really done that much cooking as as with most meats you really need to ensure that your sausages are cooked right the way through to prevent food poisonings. I generally cook mine on my George Foreman and can confirm that very little fat drained into the drip tray, in fact out of the whole eight sausages you would have been lucky to fill a teaspoon which is excellent as there is nothing worse that seeing the amount of fat that comes out some food items.
I few points worth noting, joyfully these sausages only contain 73 calories for those calories counters amongst us but they do container wheat and gluten so not good if you suffer from some food allergies. The calorific value is based on grilling your sausage not frying them in oil or worse.
Once cooked you may notice that this sausage is a lot more firm to the touch and does not fall apart whether grilled, fried or BBQ'd and the skin does not end up all split, well at least this has not happened to me anyway. Slicing through your sausage you are greeted by a nice firm packed filling with no gaps where the fatty bits of meat have melted during the cooking process.
The all important taste, delicious, nice and meaty but not chewy and both my daughter and I really enjoy these either on a sandwich with either bacon or egg, however, my hubby prefers the fatty sausages to these so as you can see he misses out when we have sausages or we have to buy some Walls for him.
Overall I enjoy these and currently they are on offer in ASDA 2 for £3.00 and they are suitable for home freezing so an ideal time to have a few in stock for when there is too much month left at the end of the money as can happen at this time of year. Would I buy them again, yes and I have on many occasions when I have been unable to get to my nearest farm shop who actually make the most divine sausages but these are the next best thing that I have come across so far.
Having checked around I have found out that even the premium sausage ranges that our supermarkets offer us these days are not necessarily lower in fat than the standard sausage (yes I have been reading the back of the packets in ASDA again) and even higher in some cases.
Remember though, if you cut into your sausage and the middle is pink - its not cooked and you need to through it back under the grill or on the BBQ until the inside is all the same colour.
Advantages: Only 62 calories and 1.9g of fat per sausage and they taste lovely Disadvantages: No idea how much salt is in each one
I have decided it is time to write a review on yet another food product that I am using in the attempt to lose the baby weight. Sausages happen to be one of my absolute favourite foods, but unfortunately they aren't exactly one of the healthiest things on the planet. A typical portion of two sausages can contain up to a quarter of the daily recommended amount of fat and the average full fat banger is about 225 calories. Not very good for you at all! ... ...-- Some Interesting Sausage Facts --
More sausages are eaten on Saturday than any other day. Sixty-six per cent of sausages are sold by the top five supermarket chains.
Every day, five million Brits will have sausages.
Searching for sausages on the internet reveals over 300,000 web pages about sausages.
British sausages even have their own fan club, the British Sausage Appreciation Society, which has over 6,000 members.

...pork and apple. However the Bowyers 95% fat free sausages I am talking of come frozen not fresh – where you generally have a greater choice.
Doing my shopping online at Iceland I decided this was sausage week, and you know what cravings are like. So checking out the ‘healthier’ sausage range I decided on a packet of Bowyers, after all they have been around for a fair while.
The pack itself is an unmistakably green colour, emblazoned on the front ... ...the % sign and then the wonderful words – Fat free. An important factor I’d like to point out here is the fact that these sausages are frozen individually, this means that you can pick as many or as few as you want without them sticking together. Don’t you just love having to get a knife to those burgers when you want to cook them?
Back preparing dinner I read the cooking instruction: Grill or fry for at least ten minutes turning frequently. So ...
