Bradford City have finally succumb to the inevitable and relegation from the Premiership has been confirmed. Though relegation is nothing to be boast about, Bradford should take comfort from the knowledge that they defied the odds and survived for two seasons in the highest division.
During Bradford's first season in the Premiership, 1999/2000, they panicked bought a variety of players who simply were too old for the riggers of top flight football. Relegation looked a certainly yet somehow a dramatic last day of the season win over Liverpool ensured that Bradford's dream would continue into 2001.
Maybe that win over Liverpool deluded some people at the club who were forecasting a top twelve finish for 2000/2001. Realistically those players who had just survived were now a year older and even nearer to retirement, plus manager Paul Jewell was replaced by the coach who had no previous managerial experience. It was also going to be a struggle made harder by the other teams no longer taking a win over Bradford as guaranteed. Very soon Bradford was anchored to the bottom and the new manager Chris Hutchings was replaced by Jim Jefferies.
Six months after Jefferies' appointment Bradford's performances have improved though they are not immune to the occasionally blip such as a 6-1 defeat at Leeds. That match also featured a fight between two City players, proving that further work is required before Bradford can reclaim their place in the Premiership.
If Jefferies can prune his squad of the players who are merely collecting their wages and sign players who have the desire, then Bradford City may well return.
From a consumer viewpoint if Bradford can retain their star players such as Benito Carbone, plus reduce admission prices then Bradford City should be entertaining value for money.

Excellent op, except it is incorrect to refer to Bradford City as 'Bradford' . Bradford FC is actually a different club to the one which plays at Valley Parade. Bradford FC is the club that originally played at Park Avenue and which became known as Bradford (Park Avenue) FC to avoid confusion with Bradford City. It is a source of great irritation to both City and that "other team from Bradford" fans to return to City as "Bradford", just as Nottingham Forest supporters are greatly irritated by their incorrect abbreviation to Notts. Forest (as this translates to Nottinghamshire Forest which is not the name of the club). However, keep up the good work -Rick
