Braun 5875 Contour

...I recently purchased the Braun Cruzer 3 Shaver I bought it for £55 and I will now detail my experience with it aswell as providing all the need to know information. The Braun Cruzer 3 is a battery or mains operated shaver for men. It is blue and black in colour and looks neat and modern. The Braun Cruzer 3 is a single foil shaver with Brauns smart foil design and a multi directional floating head. The shaver also has a dual precision styler and a detachable beard trimmer. I am impressed with this shaver and have found it gives a really nice smooth shave without the risk of cuts. The dual precision styler is perfect for those hard to reach places and is also good if like I have in the past you want to define certain hair lines. The multi directional floating head is also very useful as it moulds to the contours of your faces... Read review

Disadvantages: poor shave, smelly cleaning solution, poor battery life

...and then on the occasions I have used it, I normally end up in the bathroom for a wet shave to do the job properly, which takes a fraction of the time of the Braun Contour 5895. The automatic cleaning mechanism. Every time you shave it cleans itself, which at first I thought this was a neat idea, it isn't. More often than not, before you have finished shaving, it cuts out, telling you to clean it again, so you have to put it back in the stand which has the cleaning unit. It does it about 3 times (don't put it anywhere near your TV or telephone as it's very noisy), but then it is all wet and covered in some alcohol cleaning fluid, so unless you wait a few hours, this then goes over your face, and even then you can smell it even if you've left it for 24 hours. .... It has two main foils on its Activator head, which both have micro holes to trap and hold your hair, ready to be cut off by the cutting blade beneath. Between these two foils, is a third rigid foil which is designed to deal with longer hairs. On either side of this activator head are little blue buttons, which , when squeezed, allow the foils to pop up, and release any hair and dust inside. Press these same buttons again, and more firmly, and you can remove the foils completely, either for cleaning purposes, or to replace the cutting block. Braun recommend that foils and block are replaced together, every 18 months. The acivator head pivots on the remainder of the shaver, and so moves gently over the contours of the face during shaving.
