I have had two Brauns before, and Philishaves before them, and I also have a Remington for travelling. The Brauns have always been the best shaves in my opinion.

...get with this model from Braun :-
There are two shaving foils with the cutters underneath, and a long hair trimmer at the front. The latter could be improved if it rose higher than the other cutters - it would be more visible when trying to get precise trims done.! - see my photo and you'll realise that I am not too worried.!
The blue switch moves up into one of three positions.
The first - and most used - allows ... ...that wonderful Braun clean shave.
Position two fixes the head in one place as you shave, which is good for stubborn areas of beard.
Position three, raises those trimmers for long hair, sideburns, etc.
The display screen is just below the switch plate, and displays battery level all the time.
It also shows a message when the shaver needs to be recharged, cleaned or oiled.
I will start by admitting that part of the attraction of this model when I bought it, was the gadget-appeal factor.
It has blue neons, scrolling text, a smiley face when cleaned and an automatic cleaning system . How good is that for the guy who finds the daily shave deadly boring !
But I really did not buy this shaver JUST for those reasons.

The blue switch moves up into one of three positions. The first - and most used - allows the floils to float over the skin surface and produce that wonderful Braun clean shave.

Below the screen is a wee blue button for changing settings of the display - something I have never used yet.!
Below that is the modern necessity of a little blue neon light, which flashes during recharging and cleaning processes.!
Along with the shaver, you are supplied with wall fittings and also a stand-alone base unit which performs the cleaning and charging. The cleaning is a superb idea not just a gimmick. You can feel the difference afterwards - which is just as well as the fluid ised casts about three punds a go and lasts about a month.
Problems ?
That cleaning fluid is not available in every corner shop in the land! Boots and Argos are the only outlets that I have discovered with regular stocks... fine for me in the city, but a nuisance for someone who lives in a remote farmhouse on the Yorkshire moors.!
The battery unit failed on mine just out of guarantee, due to being immersed in shower gel in my wash bag during a flight to Amsterdam.!. I got it fixed at a Braun specialist dealer, but it cost me Ģ50 ! That would have bought a half decent shaver of some other brand.
I decided that the quality of the Braun DOES merit the expense and went ahead. It has worked faultlessly for over a year since.
These shavers are expensive at full price - around Ģ120 depending on the exact model. However, various special offers are available regularly which can halve that price.
Conclusion ?
This is a great system, which becomes good value if you buy on special offer.
