Advantages: Close shave, self cleaning Disadvantages: Need to buy refil cartridges
The Braun Synchro 7785 is a wonderful bit of technology! Personally, I was never a big fan of electric shavers. I've had a few in the past and have never found it to be as close a shave as a manual shave but the Braun changes everything. I have found it to be just as close as a manual razor and much easier to keep clean.
Granted the whole thing is actually very expensive but, for me, its well worth it. Basically the way it works is ... ...holder which cleans the razor and charges it if necessary.
The razor itself has twin foils and the head moves 4 way which is supposed to help you get as close a shave as possible. It also comes with a middle trimmer.
There are two settings on the razor. One fixes the head in place so that you can get the areas like around your nose. The other setting uses the head movements to get a close shave. In terms of the closeness ... more

Granted the whole thing is actually very expensive but, for me, its well worth it. Basically the way it works is that you shave as normal and put it in the holder which cleans the razor and charges it if necessary.

There are two settings on the razor. One fixes the head in place so that you can get the areas like around your nose. The other setting uses the head movements to get a close shave. In terms of the closeness of the shave, it is easily on par with the best manual shaver I have used, the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo. Shaving takes less time than the manual one and is much cleaner!
The good thing about this shaver set is the fact that it cleans itself. I personally found this very useful as all you need to do is to put it in the cradle and in 15 minutes it will be clean and ready to use again. Be warned though, I have found it to be quite loud when cleaning. If you decide to clean and recharge the shaver at the same time, then the time goes up to 45 minutes. You always know when it needs to be charged due to a warning light on the shaver that goes red when it needs charging. When it is finished cleaning it emits an intermittent blue light to let you know you can unplug it. The cleaning also gives it a nice lemon smell as opposed to the musty smell you get when you clean it yourself.
The one thing that does annoy me is the fact that you need to buy refill cartridges for the cradle. These cost about Ģ15 for a pack of three and I'd expect you to need to change the cartridge every 3 or 4 months. It can be a bit frustrating but is something I can quite easily get over.
Overall, its definitely worth the money it costs. There are very few things that you can fault with it and nearly a year on, its still going strong.
