Braun D830

Advantages: Reliable slide feed, quiet
Disadvantages: No auto slide change timer

...I have been using my Braun 250 AF for a couple of years now and it does a great job. It has smooth reliable slide feed whatever mounts I use and because it can accept 6 types of slide magazines I can pick and choose which I buy. Its also easy to transport. I would recommend keeping it in the box as there is access to the carrying handle through a cut out. The two level illumination switch is very useful for large/small dark/lighter rooms and the ability to align the projector bulb accurately without opening the case ensures top picture sharpness every time. The thing I like least is the cable storage for the remote panel which is fiddly and the power cable would be better if it were detachable. Other than that its a great piece of kit I would recommend to anyone.... Read review

Advantages: Main features of a SLR in a mear mortals price range.
Disadvantages: The obstructed viewfinder.

...I would describe myself as an "enthusiastic amature" that over the past 20 years have had more than a little bit to do with 35mm photography. I started with a camera that my dad brough back from Lybia in the 50's. A fixed length Braun with a manual focus and instructions in German. All i can say is that it must have been love or i would never have stuck with it. From there i went to my beloved SLR (Canon EOS 300) and spent many a happy year playng with that. I prefer to get my hands on the equipment and work things out as i go along rather than spending hours reading an instruction manual. That was why i was resistant to the onslaught of digital cameras, I cant even program my video and my mobile phone has more menu's than i know what to do with. The last thing i wanted was a camera that was more space aged than i caould cope... Read review
