I was really impressed with these hair straighteners. My last pair had been bought for me by an ex from SAKS hairdressers, were fantastic, and broke neary two years later.
The first thing I noticed when shopping around was the amount which prices for hair straightening products had dropped - presumably because of increased competition in the market! I was ready to take full advantage of this.
I ordered the Braun ES 2 Ion shine Satinliner from amazon for just over £40, which I was really impressed with given the price of my laset ones! They weren't the cheapest ones about, you can find them for about a tenner now but I always
think it is better with these kinds of things to just pay a little bit more to get a reliable product.
The Braun ES 2 Ion shine Satinliner straighteners arrived really quickly so naturally I was very eager to try them out. My hair is naturally very this, dark and curly so as a change or sometimes when I go out I straighten my hair. I don't tend to do it everyday because it just tends to take too long for my hair to get a nice sleek shiny straight look.
The straighteners themselves were sleek and black with a silver ceramic plate on them which looked very stylish. They are quite thin, which is very good for short hair. Although my hair isn't really very short, I still prefer to stick to the thinner straighteners, probably just because i'm used to them, but I find them easier to manipulate. On the top, there is a large display, on which you can see different things like the temperature.
There temperature of the straighteners is variable between the lowest temperature of 130degrees and the highest of 200 degrees in five degree intervals. It take 30 seconds to reach the minimum temperature and about a minute-and-a-half to reach the top temperature of 200. I think that it is wonderful to be able to choose th temperature that you use the straighteners at because it means that this way you can give your hair more protection and just use the temperature which is best for your own hair. There is also (as found with most straightener models but is still worth a mention because it is so annoying when there isnt one) a cool tip which can be held whilst straightening to give more control over the way you move it. Being able to hold the end means that your hands can be more steady giving a smoother look.
The plates on these straighteners have been specially designed so tht they are smoother than most ceramic plates. This means that less friction is produced as the product is being pulled down your hair which means that it gives a much smoother look with less frizz. This technology is called 'nanoglide' and is fully recommended, after all, the more friction your hair suffers in the straightening process, the more damage and frizz will result.
The other main change that Braun have made which seperates them from a lot of other products is the use of ions to control frizz. There are too little jets beneath the plates which surround your hair with ions making each strang of hair less charged by the static whihc is produced by the friction of straightening your hair. This is just such a good idea! I was so impressed with the effects. You can see on the LCD display whether or not this funtion is on.
The Braun ES 2 Ionshine Satinliner straighteners also have another fantastic function! They will turn themselves off automatically after half an hour. I am, in general quite a scatty and forgetful person. This means that was always running back to check my straighteners or ring up my house mates to check for me if I had turned them off properly. With this function there isn't really any worry any more so allthough this isnt one of the most technologically advanced features but is so practical and helpful.
The chord of the straighteners is very long with a swivelly bit meaning that you can usually get froma plug toa mirror and the chord will reach because really there is nothing more frustrating! The swivel bit means that it is easier to control.
These straighteners have been able to calm my curly locks and the straightness even lasted for quite a long time. (which I walsys have problem with, go out with straight hair and an hour later, it's curly again!)I wasn't sure if the ion thing and the nanoglide plate were just a gimicky idea but they really work and I was very impressed. The little bit of hair which used to fly away are more more controlled now which means that the overall effect is very sleek and shiny.
I fully recommend this product, although it isn't the cheapest on the market, I think it is worth every penny. (think about the prices a couple of years ago - you pay for what you get) This product will give you sleek shiny mangeable hair and I think theyw ould make a fantastic christmas present for any straightening addicts!
