I've been using an electric toothbrush for quite a few years now as recommended by my dentist. Apparently electric toothbrushes are likely to remove twice as much plaque as a regular manual one and are generally better for clean teeth and healthy gums. I'd had my old Oral B one for a while but it wasn't charging very well so it seemed that it was about time for me to get myself a new one.

It's green for full battery but the charge indicator will flash red if the battery is low. The toothbrush comes with a plug in charger and it says that if you want to, you can keep the toothbrush charging when not in use as it is impossible to overcharge it. A very good feature of this toothbrush is that it offers three different brushing modes - clean, sensitive and polish. It is very easy to switch between the different modes as well. Another great feature is the timer. My old toothbrush had a two minute timer which was good but on this new toothbrush the timer goes that little bit further. It gives a short stuttering sound every thirty second and this is to ensure that you brush each quadrant of your mouth equally. I find this very helpful and means that I don't cut any corners when I am brushing my teeth.

The toothbrush has a pressure sensor which means that it won't allow you to apply too much pressure to your gums. If you do apply too much pressure the oscillating movement will continue but the pulsing will stop sending a clear message to stop pressing so hard.

The brush is also very good for plaque removal and in the instructions it actually provides guidelines and diagrams showing the best way to make sure you cover all your teeth. I've yet to visit the dentist since starting to use this new brush but I do feel that the brush is being very effective when I use it and I am very pleased with the visual results that I can see.

The brush comes with two Oral B Precision Clean brusheads so these should last quite a while before needing to buy replacements. These are very good as they have flexisoft bristles to help you clean thoroughly, interdental tips to help clean between your teeth and an indicator bristles system that tells you when it needs replacing. You can also buy lots of other brushheads that will fit the toothbrush depending on your needs - for example there is a sensitive brushhead and another for people with crowns.

The toothbrush is easy to clean and also has a waterproof handle so it is perfectly safe to use. I think it's a good idea to clean after every use so that you don't get a horrible build up of toothpaste which is hard to remove.

Overall, I am very impressed with this toothbrush as it feels both efficient and effective.With all its additional features I definitely feel that it's value for money at £49.99 - but even better if you can find it on offer!
