The contents of the box are not exactly mindblowing. You get the shaver, an instruction manual and 2 Duracell AA batteries which means you dont have to go hunting around for batteries you bought last Christmas and put in a safe place that you have since forgot. The instruction manual ... ...Philips.
The Braun also has a long hair remover which pops out from the side. This actually works quite well and takes off the longer hair very quickly, I found this useful for touching up the side burns when they get bushy.
Although the Ciao summary of this item says it is not washable, the instructions are insitant that it is. The shaver is washed by putting the head under a running tap and brushing out all of the ... more
---Background --- I received this product as a Christmas present from my parents who accused me of always looking scruffy when I visit (the cheek of it!!). I must admit I prefer wet shaves as, in my opinion they always give a much closer and smoother finish. I have also used my trusty Philips travel shaver during the past year when I've been in a real rush and need to for the 'anything is better than how I currently look' look. I opened up the Braun box in anticipation of something that would fall in between my wet shave and my Philips experience.

The contents of the box are not exactly mindblowing. You get the shaver, an instruction manual and 2 Duracell AA batteries which means you dont have to go hunting around for batteries you bought last Christmas and put in a safe place that you have since forgot. The instruction manual isnt exactly comprehensive. It folds out to the size of a small country but is also written in every language imaginable. The English section barely covers 1 fold and tells you how to insert the batteries, clean it and very little else, but then again, you dont really need much help to use a basic shaver I suppose.
The shaver itself is fairly small, being approximately 4 inches long and would find into your pocket without being noticable.
--The Shaving experience--
I used this shaver when I had quite a lot of stubble on my face, expecting it to all disappear in next to no time. The shaver felt comfortable on my face and I began sliding it across my skin. I was somewhat perplexed when, to the naked eye it didnt look as if it was taking anything off. In fact, I had to open up the top of the shaver to see if it had actually done anything. Although it had taken something off, it certainly wasnt performing as expected. I carried on for a further 5 minutes but I wasnt getting anywhere fast. In fact, I got impatient and finished off with my trusty Philips.
The Braun also has a long hair remover which pops out from the side. This actually works quite well and takes off the longer hair very quickly, I found this useful for touching up the side burns when they get bushy.
Although the Ciao summary of this item says it is not washable, the instructions are insitant that it is. The shaver is washed by putting the head under a running tap and brushing out all of the loose hairs with the brush that is provided.
--Summary--
All in all, I am somewhat disappointed with this shaver as it doesnt quite live up to my expectations. There are certainly better ones on the market but, as this is at the lower end of the price range, perhaps my expectations were too high to begin with. My advice would be to shop around before buying this shaver.
Advantages: clean shave, can trim long hairs, battery friendly, easy to clean, water resistant. Disadvantages: a little expensive
I simply love this shaving device! I find it quick to use, giving you a clean shave with little effort, and very easy to clean; you can even use it in the shower or clean it under running water. The metal mesh can be removed for easier cleaning, and it comes with a brush geniously snugged into the bottom of the device to brush off any dirt or hair-powder. It has an extendable feature to cut long hairs and trim sideburns and what not. It's battery ... ...It has a sophisticated, manly and chic design, and very practical for use. To use, simply rotate the safety cover and slide the switch to "on"! I reccomend it to anyone on a go! ...
