This is one of the older model Braun thermoscan thermometers and was titled the EZ. Compared to the more sleekly designed updates it appear bulky and not as good to grip but it does have much the same functionality and was the first totally portable one I used. The previous ones used by my PCT being attached to the portable sphygmomanometer (blood pressure monitor)

As are all of them now, it is easy to use, accurate and fast, giving the temperature in a matter of seconds. it will give temperature results in either degrees C(Celsius) or degrees F(Fahrenheit). The ear probe is safe to use from newborn babies upwards and it is impossible to get a lens stuck in the ear. It is simple to use and easy to position, even in struggling children (and dogs; another story entirely), having a detect feature that helps ensures correct placement, beeping at you if it is misplaced. The temperature is read from a large, easy to see LCD screen which takes around a second from insertion into the ear to display.
Its memory function will recall the last temperature taken which makes it easier to recall changes. It has an internal storage chamber to keep the lens filters easily available and clean. A clean lens filter helps ensure accurate readings and reduces the chances of cross infection. It arrives with a starter set of around 20 lens filters included. These are easy to get hold of from larger chemists. It is supplied with long life lithium batteries and has a 2 year manufacturer's guarantee

What the updated models have that this model doesn’t:
soft and gentle tip which can be prewarmed warmed for extra comfort and accuracy .the Memory recalls last 8 temperatures rather than just the last and a travel case

A bit about body temperature;
-------------------------------------
The normal core body temperature of a healthy, resting adult human being is stated to be at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 37.0 degrees Celsius. Though the body temperature measured on an individual can vary, a healthy human body can maintain a fairly consistent body temperature that is around the mark of 37.0 degrees Celsius.
The normal range of human body temperature varies due to an individual’s metabolic rate; the higher (faster) it is the higher the normal body temperature, r the slower the metabolic rate the lower the normal body temperature. Other factors that might affect the body temperature of an individual may be the time of day or the part of the body in which the temperature is measured at. The body temperature is lower in the morning, due to the rest the body received and higher at night after a day of muscular activity and after food intake.
Body temperature also varies at different parts of the body. Oral temperatures, is 37.0 °C. This was the accepted standard temperature for the normal core body temperature. Axillary temperatures are an external measurement taken in the armpit or between two folds of skin on the body. This is the longest and most inaccurate way of measuring body temperature, the normal temperature falls around 97.6 °F or 36.4 °C. Rectal temperatures are an internal measurement taken in the rectum, which fall at 99.6 °F or 37.6 °C. It used to be the least time consuming and most accurate type of body temperature measurement, being an internal measurement. But it is definitely, by far, not the most comfortable method to measure the body temperature of an individual. These have now been mainly replaced by the aural (ear}.
