I was looking for a good shaver that does the job right, with a smooth and fast shave. After searching around for some time I found this excellent design product from Braun. This is without doubt the best Braun shaver to date. The combination of the new head, foil and cutter assembly has made this shaver the one to beat.
I have used the Panasonic ES 8163 and in many ways this gives a very similar shave, but with the very real advantage of the Braun cleaning system - I'm lazy when it comes to cleaning shavers - it's a chore, but for around £3.50 per month in cartridges you get a consistently cleaned and dried shaver without any fuss, and it really feels new every time you use it in the morning.I've also used previous Braun's shavers and this is a major step forward on everything that's gone before.

I previously owned a braun electric shaver, which I had used for many years, The foil and cutter needed renewing, but the cost to do this made me decide to go for a new more up to date razor. I looked into the alternatives (many!) but decided to stay with Braun.
I have used the razor almost every day for about 6 weeks including a week abroad.
I like the fact that it is rechargeable (my old one wasn`t), and this means I don`t have a cord draped across my chin when shaving. The hargeing is very quick, the led changing from steady-on to flashing in about an hour. On holiday, I was surprised that I got almost a week`s shaving on one charge.
As to the shave quality, for the cost of the razor, I think it is very good. The manufacturers say the foil and cutter should last 15 months, and the replacement cost should be much less than all the wet ...

Well really not bad. There are three components here, basically. The foils and cutter blocks will need replacing and that package seems to be £20 - £32 depending on where you get it ? but the clean and renew system will actually extend the life of these and the charging/cleaning bay also means the shave head is protected.
You will also need pack of the cleaning fluid (it comes as a cartridge that slips into the bottom Clean & Renew station, very easy to use) and a pack of two of these is currently about £5. One lasts me about 6 weeks or so.
So ? yes or no, is it worth it?

Wet shaving is not free. Gillette (who dominates the market for men?s blade shaving systems) make a good return and whatever you use by way of blades needs regular replacement. So, there is a cost however ...
