I bought one of these having seen the hospital version in use where I work, which I know to be reliable, reproducible and accurate when compared to conventional measuremnts. The price was considerably more than I had expected but was not much more than the own-brand version in Boots, and I was persuaded by the branded product to part with an extra fiver. When my daughter was little we had one scary occassion where she was very poorly and had to be taken to casualty because her temperature was so high it caused her to have a febrile convulsion (fit). At the time I only had a forhead temperature guage and when she was allowed home I was told to keep an eye on her temperature. I didn't feel that the forhead guage was exact enough so I bought a thermoscan. This is an excellent and accurate thermometer ...

...The brilliant thing about the Braun Thermoscan is that it's so quick and easy. Literally within 1 second you get an acurate reading from the ear. With the digital one, I never knew how acurate it was - had I held it in place long enough, was it affected by her constantly moving about etc.... but with this one I know that the reading is correct. There's a memory facility as well so that you can track the temperature over the course of a few hours, ...
