Bravo Two Zero

Advantages: Excellent war movie, good acting + special features on DVD
Disadvantages: DD 5.1 audio would have been nice

What's the movie about? Bravo Two Zero was produced by the BBC and shown on British TV in 1998. It is a true story set in the early days of the Gulf War (Iraq 1991) and retells the story of an 8 man SAS squad behind enemy lines; their mission was to destroy Iraqi scud missiles launchers and also to cut communication lines. Very quickly their position becomes compromised and they are set back further by equipment failure and bad weather. Deciding to abort their mission they have to fight numerous running battles with a much larger Iraqi army before they can reach the border to safety. Eventually some of the squad are captured and have to endure interrogation and torture from Iraq's secret police. Bravo Two Zero is an excellent story of an elite squadron trying to escape from behind enemy lines with things getting worse as each minute ...

Bravo Two Zero

Advantages: Excellent Read
Disadvantages: Boring Beginning

bombs raining down on the enemy. ***************************************** As what happens to the members of Bravo two Zero, you'll have to buy the book or go the library. This book has been out for some time now, so it should be about a pound or two to buy. It depends where you are as I bought mine for £2 but have seen it cheaper elsewhere. My thoughts ---------------- At first I could only get up to page 10 and then I'd had enough of it, I tried a few times but only got to page 10. The reason for this because in the first few chapters, you have to look in the references at the back to look what certain words mean, for instance LUP: - Lying Up Position. At first this got a bit tiresome, but I decided to read on. The book was very graphical in parts, but I also found other parts were bad, as it was very difficult to imagine ...

Review of Bravo Two Zero - Andy McNab

RIO BRAVO - pure western joy

Advantages: Great western and very entertaining still
Disadvantages: None

Hello, everyone! Particularly western movie lovers and devotees of the great Howard Hawks! RIO BRAVO, made in 1958 and first released in early 1959, has proved itself to stand the so-called "test of time". Indeed, 40 years later, this movie is still very watchable and gives the viewer a lot of pleasure. And what a cast! John Wayne! Dean Martin! Ricky Nelson! Angie Dickinson! Walter Brennan! Ward Bond! All ably supported by John Russell, Pedro Gonzales Gonzales and (particularly) Claude Akins. John Wayne - THE Duke - plays Sheriff John T Chance, who acts like a rock of total stability throughout the movie. John Wayne really always plays himself, but there is no harm at all in that, is there? Dean Martin acquits himself particularly well in RIO BRAVO. He plays "Dude", the Sherrif's former deputy, who 2 years before ...
