Lets break the silence

Advantages: raises awareness of crimes such as this one
Disadvantages: some people might find it too disturbing to watch.

I don’t know how many of you were tuned into ITV this Monday (12th January) for the drama Premiere ‘Wall of Silence’ but for those of you who were I’m sure you were filled with the same disgust, hatred and distress that I felt while watching it. I think the most disturbing thing for me was the fact that it actually happened and what’s more it happened on the day of my birthday. Now for those of you who are wondering what I am rambling on about I’m talking about the story of a boy called Jamie Robe. Jamie was an ordinary seventeen-year-old boy who did what any normal teenager would do. He lived with his mother, his brothers and his sister and spent some time with his father fishing. He didn’t drink until one night when he rebelled and drank a bottle of scotch. That night his life was ended ...

Review of Wall of Silence

A dangerous place to break down

Advantages: Inexpensive help from 44p a week
Disadvantages: Being stranded

the most dangerous place of all due to the high speeds vehicle travels on these types of roads. If you are lucky enough to breakdown close to a hard shoulder you can at least get out of your car & walk to safe area to phone for help but if there is no hard shoulder & vehicles are screaming past at high speeds it can get scary. Never sit in your car waiting for help to come, it's nothing unusual to see a 40ton truck or an emergency vehicle driving down a hard shoulder for what ever reason & if they don't see you, the result can be catastrophic. Luckily the traffic police are always on the look out for these situations & they can often direct traffic away form a dangerous situation until help arrives. You cannot prevent a vehicle breaking down, but you can help yourself by ensuring you have sufficient fuel in your tank for your journey, that ...

Wall Of Silence or Cowardis?

Advantages: Shows the devastating effects of the aftermath
Disadvantages: Shows young people being smug

I did think this programme gave people pause for thought, certainly the people that lived through it. Jamie Robe was one of my very best friends. I had move away to Kent the year the tradgic event occured. I had spoken to Jamie many times on the phone and last i did he was going to a night club with friends and i wanring him to be careful, of spiked drinks because he had never been to a night club before. Then 2 months after the cowards murdered my friend I found out by letter with newspaper clippings inserted. I since never spoke to the person that sent me this. I was devastated to hear in such a way. and i came back to london for the funeral, at the wake Stewart said to me " be careful otu there, don't go the same way Jamie did" i will never forget that or ever, ever forget how much jamie meant to me. This programme highlighst key ...
