The Swing swung me.

Advantages: Portable, fast, easy to assemble
Disadvantages: The noise

...an electric one. Medela was recommended to me by a midwife and after using the comparison table on their website I opted for the Swing. Electric pumps are up to four times more expensive than manual ones but they are designed to be easier and faster to use. What's the cost? Prices vary from as low as £59 to £92 but the average is around £82 What do you get? Swing pump with built in belt clip One size fits all breast shield. (Other shields are ...
...and away you go. Medela use a two phase pumping action to enable to you get more out in less time. The first phase is the stimulation mode which mimics your baby's initial quick sucking to get your milk flowing. The second phase is the expression phase which is similar to the slower sucks your baby takes once their thirst is quenched. Amazing product - LOVE IT

Advantages: Less pain, helps latching on - your baby gets the milk!
Disadvantages: Slides around/empties, baby can develop a preference for the shield

I have inverted nipples which makes getting a proper latch almost impossible. My midwives suggested these and I think they were $6 from Shoppers Drug Mart here in Canada. I've seen this brand on ebay as well. You can use these to draw the nipple out initially and then feed without the shield or use for the full feeding. They are wonderful! Yes, they slip around and come off sometimes but they are thin and comfy, unlike the hard avent ones that hurt. ...

wonder cream

Advantages: Soothing for chapped skin. Can be used on mother and child. Tube lasts a long time.
Disadvantages: Some people are allergic to lanolin. Quite sticky

Purelan cream is used to protect and soothe cracked or dry nipples. I found it to be extremely soothing for cracked nipples and I often used it on dry patches of my own skin and my babies skin. The cream has the texture of really thick and sticky vaseline and is yellow in colour. It doesn't really have any scent to it. A tiny smear on your finger is more than enough for both nipples. I used the small tube which came with my breastpump at least ...
...looks full. I found it to really useful as a barrier to protect my nipples when I was using my breastpump. If you pump milk several times a day you can be left feeling a little sore but this stopped the skin from drying and soothed any sore patches. I used some of it on my babies cradle cap and it really calmed down the redness seemed to stop it from becoming even worse. You do not have to wash the cream off to breastfeed or express milk. This ...

Why I would recommend the Avent ISIS Breast Pump

Advantages: It's quick, easy and can be used easily with one hand.
Disadvantages: It's quite fiddly to take apart and clean until you get the hang of it.
