Purelan cream is used to protect and soothe cracked or dry nipples. I found it to be extremely soothing for cracked nipples and I often used it on dry patches of my own skin and my babies skin. The cream has the texture of really thick and sticky vaseline and is yellow in colour. It doesn't really have any scent to it. A tiny smear on your finger is more than enough for both nipples. Review of Medela PureLan Nipple Cream

Probably kept me breastfeeding

Advantages: Works! Doesn't need to be washed off before feeding
Disadvantages: Very expensive and also quite thick - but that's probably why it works

I originally had another brand, which came in a pre-packed hospital bag. I soon realised that was useless (you even needed to wash it off your breasts before feeding, which seems mental). I had cracked and bleeding nipples after a few weeks of breastfeeding and was in pain every time I tried to feed. Cracked nipples ouch.

Advantages: How it relieves pain.
Disadvantages: none i thought it was really good.

...around £2-£3, i had a Tesco mother to be token so it cost a little less. Anyway after applying the cream the pain started to go away it felt like bliss. Using this cream made breast feeding more bearable considering i was about to give it up in the first week. Review of Tesco Nipple Cream

Good for tiny little sore bottoms too you know!

Advantages: Soothing, clears up nappy rash quick
Disadvantages: Bright yellow - can stain nappies

...as I always have some Kamillosan in my baby cupboard!! I bought this when Sudocrem (which is what I thought you HAD to use at all times on your baby's bottom due to advertising and the free samples in bounty packs) caused my daughter's bottom to go haywire - it made any slight rash ten times worse, and the screaming fits...well.... I bought this product after the first few days of breastfeeding my baby, as my nipples had become extremely dry, cracked and had started to bleed.
