Advantages Advantages Cheap, quick and easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Has some safety issues

Deep-fat fryers seem to be becoming evermore popular in today’s kitchens. Not wanting to feel left out, I decided to buy one for myself, so that I could see what has made them so popular. The fryer I purchased was the Breville Cool Wall Deep Fat Fryer. I purchased it from Currys at a price of £19.99, although I have seen it priced up to as much as £27.99 is some smaller household appliance stores. This was one of the cheaper fryers on offer, but I didn’t want to spend an excessive amount in case I didn’t end up using it very much. When I got it home and took it out of the box, everything ... more

Advantages Advantages Quite nice chips, can cook from frozen.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Oil still needs changing.

A few months ago, my husband bought a deep fat fryer, something which I was not enthusiastic about, I don`t eat chips very often and I hate changing the oil (would rather use oven chips), but up to him I guess. I imagined it as an ornament to be used occassionally along with the sandwich toaster, breadmaker and smoothie maker. I TRY to eat a reasonably healthy diet and whilst I enjoy chips sometimes, they are not something that I like to include as part of my regular diet. Fried Chips. * * * * * * * * * * Firstly, do I enjoy fried chips? Well, it depends very much on how they are cooked. I ... more

Advantages Advantages Not too expensive, Does it's job, Easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps wouldn't suit someone who uses a fryer on a regular basis, Cooking times shown on the machine aren't 100% accurate

Ok, we all know deep frying food isn't particularly healthy... but then again, if you're someone who likes chips occasionally, you'll also know that every now and again it's nice to have 'proper' chips - the kind where you chop up your potatoes and fry them till they're a lovely crispy golden brown, rather than those ready made oven chips that stay soggy and pale. The Breville Cool Wall Deep Fryer is a great fryer if you're not looking to spend a lot and probably don't plan on having chips and fried food every night! Breville are known for making a lot of lower priced kitchen equipment (in ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, pleasant looking, locking lid.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No on/off switch, basket handle unsturdy, difficult to empty.

I had a sudden craving for chips. Egg, beans and chips to be precise, but not really liking oven chips and not having a saucepan big enough I decided that a chip fryer was in order. Visiting our nearest Tesco Superstore I found the Breville Cool Wall Deep Fat Fryer for 19.99. It is cylindrical in shape, which I initially found attractive but now realise that a rectangular one would have fitted more neatly in the corner. Standing 11 inches (28cm) high and at it’s widest point, 13 inches (33cm) in diameter it is fitted with a plug on a 4 foot (116cm) cable. It doesn’t look very big in my ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages extremely limited functions

We invested in this deep fat fryer quite recently, intending to use it for a variety of food - chips, chicken etc. Unfortunately, being in somewhat of a rush that day and faced with a wide range of prices, we plumped for the basic £19.99 fryer. Its nice and white and holds I can honestly say that this is a case of you get what you pay for. The instruction are basic - they couldn't actually be much else as this fryer: Has no on/off switch - plug 'n' play I suppose No range of temperature setting The cool wall isn't - it does heat up noticeably The automatic temperature control merely heats the ... more
