Breville kettle
Following the sad demise of my Dualit kettle, it was time to stop boiling the pan and get a new one. My only premise was that it looked fairly sleek and didn't cost the earth; after all the last one had been pretty expensive by kettle standards and had lasted only about three years.
Not knowing much about kettles, a trip to my local supermarket found me leaving the store with this one.
FEATURES…
The kettle itself is quite sleek ... ...with a black base, handle and lid. The spout is quite small so this is going to be absolutely no good for filling via the spout- this time I will have to lift up the lid! An advantage here is that the lid does have a little release button at the front of the lid- just push and it releases. The spout is also removable, so I can keep it nice and clean. I have tried to remove it and it is very simple- simply pull off.
At the back of the kettle is a ...

Quick review of Breville BR.JK98 Review ofBreville BR.JK98by

To balance the previous review, I have recently bought one of these and so far it is excellent. The heavy, but far from too heavy base makes it safe to use and difficult to over turn. It is also very fast to boil. If you do not over fill it water does not shoot out of the bottom at all and the handle is chunky and fit's most human hands perfectly. It also looks good. Don't pay more than £33 for one though. They sell them in a very large supermarket chain for £20!
Advantages: Easy to use, easy to keep clean, ambidexterous Disadvantages: Reliability
This is a cordless kettle, with a circular base.
£20 from Tesco.
It worked (!) very well, boiled quickly, and was happy to boil as little as a couple of mugs, so very efficient. The styling is good, and it is easy to put on its base (unlike other cordless kettles) and can go at any angle, so is fine for a mixed left and right handed household.
Being stainless steel it is easy to keep clean, and doesn't seen to fur up. It has a light so you know ... ...and it switches off when removed from the base, so if you put it down empty, it doesn't start to heat again. Downsides:
Being metalic, the outside gets very hot, but the handle is well designed to keep hands safe.
It cannot be filled through the spout - this has to be done by opening the lid, which can be painful if the kettle has just boiled (perhaps a decision of a Health and safety consultant with no common sense).
The water gauge (a transparent ...

Advantages: Lightweight, stylish and trendy Disadvantages: Fiddly to fill from a water jug
The Breville BR.JK98 is a stylish kettle, with a very modern look of a mainly stainless steel chrome body with a black plastic handle, lid and base. Its a good combination of colours and goes well in my kitchen. It is one of the lightest chrome kettles on the market, as I have difficulty carrying heavy items I searched out the lightest I could find.
It has a full 360 degree rotation on the base, enabling great ease of use for either left or right ... ...use as you're not trailing the cord over the work top.
The cord is contained within the base of the kettle, and there is a generous length that stretches the full width of the work top, enabling use a fair distance away from the plug sockets.
I fill the kettle from a water jug and I found the narrow top of the kettle difficult and fiddly to fill, but now I'm well practiced in the art of filling the kettle it is much easier.
Being stainless steel ...

Advantages: Fast Boiling Time Disadvantages: Very hot to touch
...about a kettle. Especially the breville JK98. I will start off with all the technical bits. It has a 360 degree rotation base, a 3KW fast boil element and a 1.7 litre capacity. As there is no picture i will try my best to explain how the JK98 looks. Well...its black and stainless steel. Its big fat and round at the bottom, and the opposite at the top. Infact its so thin at the top compared to the bottom, the lid can be very awkward to open. It fits ... ...big black handle, thats doesnt perticularly fit to the hand.
If you happen to acciddently touch the stainless steel part of the body, it is extemely hot when just boiled. It is a heavy kettle, let alone when its full of water. Last but not least ours seems to shoot water from underneath whenever it feels like. ...

This seemed like a fantastic idea because as a mum with 2 small children, I am forever boiling the kettle - getting distracted & having to reboil it again to make my cups of tea ( of which there are many)
