This sandwich toaster satisfies in a major way!

My first experience of sandwich toasters was as a teenager when my Dad bought a Breville. We then spent every weekend coming up with new recipes for toasted sandwiches!

As a adult with my own family I bought a little known brand, 2 round toasted sandwich maker. People might say that a toasted sandwich is a toasted sandwich but I was mightily disappointed with the quality of sandwiches that were limp, mainly breaking apart and didn't live up to the memories.

I had some spare cash and saw this Breville Quattro in a local store and bought it with no hesitation.

Whilst it is on the bulky side and it can be quite difficult to store because of it's size it is extremely easy to use being a great "plug and play" item. The unit heats quickly, toasts quickly and cools again quickly. The bread stays where it is put while you close the lid down to start the cooking process, so you get even sandwiches, not mishapes which leak when you pick them up.

The toasted sandwiches this makes are like no other sandwich you will ever make. I don't know whether it is the design or shape of the plates but you get no limp, flat sandwiches here. Every sandwich is prefectly formed, deep and fluffy. Every sandwich seals perfectly - even if the slices of bread are not quite the same size due to them being end of loaf etc. Plus you get to make 4 rounds at a time so there are no disappointed faces waiting for the next 2 rounds to heat!

I've tried the usual ingredients and some softer ones to see if this is as good as I remember and if you fancy an apple pie without making pastry and spending the afternoon baking then pie filling in a toastie satisfies that urge!

This sandwich toaster is easy to clean - just wipe down with a soft damp cloth. It looks good in my modern kitchen too - the re-design of the exterior to give it a curved and sleek look is great and again is easily cleanable with a soft, damp cloth.
