I work running all of the facilities in my workplace and with a large number of employees I always seem to be purchasing new kettles as they are used regularly. As they are used regularly they are boiled a lot more than an average kettle, so I try and purchase kettles in the middle price bracket as they seem to last longer than cheap alternatives that I have purchased in the past.
When I was looking I came across the Breville Hot Cup model number VKJ142, it was on special offer at £40. This looked like an ideal solution to place this into our meeting room so that there are hot drinks available throughout meetings, without causing much disruption. Having now used this for a few months a couple of times a day I feel I can now review the product.
The great thing about the Breville Hot Cup is that it has a fast boil 3 kW concealed element which boils water one cup at a time so that you save time, energy and money. I was worried that the water would not be boiling when dispensed, but it releases perfect boiling hot water for a hot drink.
The water boils in a matter of seconds which is handy for the business as we are forever boiling kettles and standing around waiting, wasting time. We also end up boiling more water than is needed, the Hot Cup makes sure you boil enough for one cup at a time.
The Hot Cup can dispense five cups without the need for refilling and it is easy to clean and refill as and when needed, with the help of a dip tray. The tray can also be put into a dishwasher for cleaning.
The Breville Hot Cup is great and it is easy to use, when you need to use it you place a cup under the spout and once you have pressed the button and in under a minute the water will be dispensed into the cup.
This is ideal during a small meeting as you are unsure how long a meeting will go on for and who wants a drink. This takes away all of the problems and allows you to have easy instant access to a hot drink at the press of a button. If we have a meeting with a large number of people we usually make a jug of tea and coffee as it is easier and a lot quicker than using the Hot Cup, but for small meeting its perfect.
The biggest disadvantage is that each shot of water that is dispensed is 250ml and it you have large mugs then you only get half a cup and if you have small cups it could overflow, fortunately in the office the 250ml fits perfectly into the mugs we have.
If you are using this at home it has a down side if you use your kettle for cooking or making baby bottles, but if it is just for hot drinks then this is definitely a machine for you.
