What My Heart Wants To Say-Gareth Gates

Advantages: Nice mix of styles and themed songs.Upbeat.Has some covers of old pop songs some might like.
Disadvantages: Unforgettable-generic pop at best.Nothing special musically, lyrically or vocally.

What can I say, if you thought I was unkind about Will Young (who I actually do like 10 times better than Gareth Gates) then perhaps don't read any further. Gareth Gates, who competed with Will Young in Pop Idol, was later signed by Simon Cowel. And although I am not a fan, I think this was a good business move. This is about as nice as I can be about Gareth Gates' musical career. I think die hard teeny bopper pop fans will have appreciated the efforts of Gates, but as far as him having any longevity in his career, I dont think it is likely. In this album he covers 'Unchaned Melody' and to his credit, he can sing in tune, but his voice (though melodic) is highly regular and unimpressive. There really isn't anything memorable or distinguishable about it (unlike Will Young-who at least has a clearly distinguishable voice). I ...

How To Survive Losing Your Spouse

Advantages: Deals with the practicalities and emotional issues bereavement brings in bite size chapters
Disadvantages: Whilst this is an excellent self help book, it is probably best for those who are under 50 or so

Introduction I will preface the review for this book by saying I truly hope none of you ever actually need to buy it. However if you do - I would highly recommend it. "Death...And How to Survive It" is a book written specifically to help people who have lost their spouse or partner. Sadly for me, I had reason to buy this book in March last year when my husband died suddenly. Kate Boydell became a widow in 1998. She was left with two young daughters and her book is a testament to the fact you can suffer loss and still come out the other side. The Book The book is split into two sections, each containing small chapters. This makes it easier to work through at a time when you are struggling just to function. The first part of the book is entitled "Through the Darkness". This deals with the start of your journey - when you ...

Review of Death... And How To Survive It - Kate Boydell

"I don't really want to fight..."

Advantages: Moving powerful story, very well performed
Disadvantages: Inaccuracies

. You barely see much age change in their looks, but I think it is made obvious by the acting in the way their personalities develop anyway. The stage scenes seem all fairly realistic, albeit mostly small-scale. The glam-factor was actually quite minimal considering how famous we know Tina Turner became, but this allows us to focus more on what life was like behind the scenes. Classification I'm not really sure about this one. The film has been classified as an 18, and part of me thinks that people over 15 should really be allowed to see it. It would seem obvious, when I say there is a rape scene, that the rating must be an 18. It really is horrible to watch that scene and in fact the second time I saw it, I left the room (can't rewind/fast-forward at the moment) and when it came on telly I changed the channel so my ...
