Not a day goes past in our house now without the plea "mum can you build a track now" Since the introduction of Brio twelve months ago our track has extended to cover the entire surface area of my sons bedroom, we have bridges, crossings, trains, buses and tunnels and judging by his interest in the Brio catoulouge there is more to come. Brio is fantastic and does last them for years. It is extremely hard wearing and offers so much scope for play, especially with the new range of "noisy" stuff which includes a level crossing which makes train noises as the trains chug by. There is also a station which allows you to record your own 'announcement' which is always a hit at friends houses as we have yet to give in to temptation.Train wise the list is enless especially as you can buy most of the Thomas the Tank engine engines for between ten and fifteen pounds each. We did have a battery operated train but found that this limited the child involvement in that I built the track and put the train on it and the children watched. Bob the builder also has some special compatible track which allows Scoop and Muck to join in the fun on the track and chase Thomas etc. My advice however is to get the important stuff from Brio and then start shopping in Tescos or Asda which has a compatible range for a fraction of the price, the only difference we have found being the logo and the amount of change. For instance a four train engine shed from Brio is about forty pounds but can be picked up for less than fifteen at Tesco's. Likewise trains are one pound at tescos and coaches the same. Expect to pay at least a fiver for Brio. It also means you can buy more stuff and succumb to the plea but I really need a tunnel. (incidently tunnels £4.99 in index and £16 from Brio)

I bought my son a £14.99 set from tescos last year and the engine shed. I too noticed the difference in price. And it still looks brand new even though he plays with it constantly. How can Brio justify the extra cost?

Better now, but I'll give you a tip if you put line breaks between your paragraphs it would make it look nicer and it would be easier to read, Susan

As I said before, sorry for the FH but you need to add much more information to the op, Susan
