In March this year, my son discovered his love for trains and so we decided he could get a train set. After spending a long time on debating which one to but - a cheaper one as he is only 2 and a half, we decided we will buy the Brio set (£30). Fortunately, it been true love ever since then. It is the only toy (set) he plays with every day. We did buy some cheaper alternative accessories - Tesco and Wooden World but none have come close to the quality of Brio. Of course there is hefty price tag that comes with each Brio product but for us that just means the boys will have less items but definitely Brio.

My eldest child had a Brio train set, which he sold when he grew too old for it. My youngest (12 year gap!) has a similar set from ELC, which is just as good, though much cheaper. They're all compatible, so you can add bits from Brio, Tesco, ELC and the very expensive but popular Thomas range, and they all fit together. My son loves the battery powered Thomas and James, though they are expensive.
Advantages: Brilliant fun, attractive toys, encourage development of skills for play...etc. Disadvantages: The price, The cost, The amount required to be tendered.(no pun meant)
