In order to live we need water. An obvious statement to all reading this, but did you know we should all be drinking at least 2 litres or 8 glasses of water a day? This can be in any form such as tea or coffee but plain water is the healthiest option. I don’t buy squash or other sugary drinks for my children as they have always been bought up to drink plain tap water. However it is sometimes a struggle to get them to drink enough especially when the weather is hot. At times out tap water can taste of chorine, not a pleasant taste! Whilst at a friend’s house a few months ago I noticed she was ... more

Advantages Advantages Filters water, fits in fridge, a returned gift.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Need to buy replacement cartridges regularly, heavy when full.

I have had a Brita water filter jug for many years. I have been thoroughly happy with it, so when my mother-in-law fell ill earlier in the year with stomach and kidney problems I decided to buy her a Brita water filter to encourage her to drink more water. As is the way with my mother-in-law she thanked me for the jug and then put it in the cupboard never to see the light of day, after a few months I asked her how she was getting on with the jug, she declared that it was of no use to her and gave it back to me in brand new condition. So I replaced my tired old jug with the sparkly new one. The ... more

Brita Aluna Water Filter I first purchased after a visit to a dentist in a new area I had moved to who was able to comment on the area of the country I had moved from and was aware that my previous location had high levels of fluoride in the water and had teeth staining as a result of fluorosis. I made a decision at that point to purchase a water filter. I have for many years preferred the taste of filtered water and have always owned Brita for fear that other less known brands were not as effective at removing impurities from the water. I resisted buying a maxi water filter as I felt it was a ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice idea in theory

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't seem to do the job for us

Drinking water from the tap isn't really the done thing to do in Warsaw, supposedly there's a great deal of dodgy substances in the water supply and the locals steer clear of it, capital city folk tend to be a fussy bunch though and it's never bothered me nor my wife. Each neighbourhood has a water fountain where you can fill up but I personally have never got round to doing it, traipsing around with a few 5 litre bottles in -20 or so doesn't really appeal and I can never be bothered during the other seasons either. Large bottles of water are fairly cheap in the shops too but the logistical ... more

I recently wrote a review about the similar ‘Fjord’ product from the Brita range, and was inspired to go out and buy my mum one. I wanted to spend the minimum amount possible so I went for the cheaper ‘Aluna’ version for her, which at £12.99 is half the price. We got it going straight away, and to be honest, I was not less impressed with the product or the results than my own version. It is smart looking and surprisingly lightweight, even when full of water. It fit nicely into the side door of the fridge allowing easy access to a cool glass of filtered water at any opportunity. This model ... more
