I have had this water filter for about a year now and brought it after I dropped exactly the same model and cracked the jug. I think so much of this product I went and brought a new one without hesitation and have recommended as well as buying it as a present for many friends.
In case you haven’t heard of a water filter it comprises of a plastic jug with another “plastic thingy” that sits in the top with a hole in the bottom into which you screw in your filter. Your tap water (yuk) goes into the top “plastic thingy” and filters through and then you pour it out and enjoy your water (yum). I missed out a plastic lid that goes on top just to keep water from sploshing out when you pour of dust getting in.
I keep mine in the door of the fridge because cold refrigerated water tastes so much better than tap water. Set into the top of the plastic lid is a device that has four bars on and when reset one bar disappears every week to remind you to change your filter after a month. Personally I don’t change my filters anywhere near as often as every month and it still tastes great. The filters are three or four pound each so not that much but why bother when you don’t need to.
I can't really describe the taste of the water only to say it removes and chalky or other unpleasant tastes your mains water supply might contain. I am not one of those obsessed people who uses the water for their kettle but my family does drink a lot of pure water and so it serves a useful purpose.
In summary I would recommend everyone to get one of these and keep it in their fridge doors if they drink water on a regular basis. You should try changing the filter after a month and see if you notice the difference, if not like me just don’t bother for another month (or two, or three).
