Brita Elemaris water filter jug

Advantages: The water tastes better than previous filters, it's much easier to fill and use.
Disadvantages: Still takes quite a bit of cleaning but again, a step up from the original jugs

Having owned and used a Brita water filter on a regular basis for several years, I couldn't resist purchasing the Elemaris when I saw it on offer at a bargain price on the shelves of our local Asda. My original filter jug was full of water, so the first thing I did on unpacking the Elemaris was to pour a glassful from each jug to compare them. I was pleased to observe that the water in the glass poured from the Elemaris appeared cleaner and much clearer than that from my old faithful. On tasting both samples, the one poured from the Elemaris won hands down - it tasted much fresher than the drink from the other jug. Our tapwater has quite a nasty taste when unfiltered but the Elemaris removed this. The Elemaris is much easier to fill than the earlier models and the filter does it's work much more quickly - my first jug took ...

filtered water - an unrealistic dream?

Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: hasn't improved the taste of our tea

We live in a hard water area in Bristol and are always having problems with limescale - we've been through many kettles in the last few years. My husband and I are used to the taste of the water now, so we don't really notice it, but when we have visitors they often complain about the drinks we serve. So, we were thrilled when my parents bought us a Brita Elemaris Cool Water Filter jug for Christmas along with a refill pack of 3 MAXTRA cartridges. Apparently they were fed up of the strange taste of our tea! Brita make the following claims - "You will enjoy cleaner, clearer, great tasting water" and "protects your domestic appliances against limescale build up". "The BRITA MAXTRA cartridge reduces substances like chlorine, limescale..., aluminium, heavy metals... and certain pesticides as well as organic impurities." Excellent ...

Brita Marella Water Filter: Filter-Fantastic

Advantages: Clean fresh tasting water at minimum cost
Disadvantages: Having to run water through twice with each new cartridge

When my son was about 10 months old I decided to buy a water filter jug as I was fed up of boiling tap water for him to drink but just felt he was too precious to drink it straight from the tap. I had a look around and was slightly overwhelmed by the choice so decided to get this one from Argos as they had a special offer on and the jug and 6 refill cartridges were both half price, making it about £20 for the lot. The jug is elegant and contemporary and fits easily in the fridge door to keep the water cool leaving space for a 2pint and a 1pint bottle of milk. The jug holds 1.4 litres of filtered water, or if you remove the filtration system it will hold 2.4 litres of liquid. There is a flip top hole in the lid which you just pour the water through from the tap without having to remove the lid and there is also a flip ...
