Believe it or not, Britain DOES have talent!!!

Advantages: Very entertaining... Some genuinely talented entrants too!!!
Disadvantages: Lots of untalented idiots (though some are entertaining)!!!

Co-created by X Factor judge, Simon Cowell, Britain’s Got Talent premiered on ITV1 on June 9 2007.

It was not unlike the X Factor itself in that members of the general public who have talent (or so most of them would think at any rate) could attend auditions that were being held throughout the UK.

The people auditioning were from all walks of life and of all ages from the very young to the very old. Age was no boundary ...
...were “skilled” in many, many different ways. There were singers, dancers, comedians and musicians to name but a few.

The prizes for this talent search were impressive to say the least – with the winner destined to receive £100,000 and to perform in the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Queen and the Royal Family.

The good thing about this programme is that it didn’t just highlight the minority of applicants that ... more

Best of british - and some of the not so best!

Advantages: audience at auditions, good presenters, good range of talents
Disadvantages: can be long winded between acts

I thought i'd write a review on this programme as I was lucky enough (some would not think that way though!) to actually go and see this being filmed for last years show and was sat in the audience during one of the days of manchester auditions. I was offered tckets again this year but unfortunately could not go due to work. However the concept is the same for the audience side of things every year so I will cover this as well as the actual show. ...
...getting their hands on tickets for next year, (as I'm sure it will be back again!) then you need to sign up to www.applausestore.com - they are free and if you sign up to this website you can frequently log on to check out others shows so this is worth bearing in mind if you like this kind of thing - a lot of the time though they will send an email if there is a show they think you will be interested in from what your preferences are. I have been ...

I've got a hidden talent!

Advantages: Variety of acts shown, entertaining, suitable for all the family
Disadvantages: A lot of the acts don't actually have much talent.

...watching the latest series of Britain's Got Talent and I'm already looking forward to the next series! For anybody that has missed the last two series, it is a ITV talent contest along the usual lines - audition process where you get to see the good, the bad and the ugly (or the good, the terrible and the even worse), heats where the winners are chosen by public vote, culminating in a grand final where only one contestant can be the winner. The celebrity ...
...would have missed her!) Britain's Got Talent is somewhat different from other TV talent shows in that it isn't restricted to singing (although some contestants do sing), people come on to perform any manner of talents, including the weird and the wonderful! Anything goes from dance troupes, magic acts, poetry recital to performing animals. Nor is there any age limit so you get quite a broad selection including lots of cutesy kids and aged Grand-dads. ...

We still have a lot of loonies

Advantages: You decide
Disadvantages: You decide

Whilst the world wallows in doom and gloom, with credit crunch and expenses rows, its nice to get a bit of normality back into our lives isn’t it. And indeed what could be more normal than a guy swinging a pickaxe from his grotesquely deformed ears, or another guy dressed as Darth Vader and dancing nothing like Michael Jackson. Yep Nick Hell and Darth Jackson sure showed us that Britain not only has talent but it has more than it’s fair share of ...
...From the outset of this latest series of Britain’s got Talent it was perhaps more evident than before that this was definitely the case, there are several quality acts in this years final, and unfortunately in my humble opinion the judges have once again made a few serious errors. There is no way that Nick Hell should have been allowed anywhere near the semi-finals as is the case with Darth Jackson. Other far superior acts were therefore omitted ...

Has Britain Got Talent?

Advantages: Easy to watch, very funny auditions at times, can be entertaining
Disadvantages: Piers Morgan and the audiences

Britain's Got Talent is yet another show which auditions ordinary folk in search of finding a new, undiscovered talent. It runs each year and the 2009 competition is now underway. The winner gets to perform in front of Her Majesty, or one or two of The Queen's family members, at the year's Royal Variety Show. There is undoubtedly more to the winner's prize but this seems to be most contestants ultimate goal. BGT is not a show I watched at one time ...
...an additional show called Britain's Got More Talent which is aired on ITV2 later in the evening. This has a similar format but shows more inside information and is hosted by Stephen Mulhern. One of the hooks that draw viewers in each year are the audtions. This stage usually lasts a few weeks and by then viewers are hooked and carry on tuning in. The auditions are held up and down the country and the contestants range from very young to very old, ...

Talent for what?

Advantages: See text.
Disadvantages: See text.

...to write a review on Britain's Got Talent, a prime time weekend show that just got better after Scotswoman Susan Boyle wowed us all quite surprisingly! But this particular show is one with a bit of a difference, as I shall tell you all about now. We are all used to the usual reality TV shows that are currently on at this time of similar proportions, such as the X Factor; Pop Idol, and so on. But whereas the majority (if not all) of them are purely ...
...that people may have (although singing still does come in to it should that be your own particular talent). The general layout of the show is the same, whereby you go up in front of the panel of judges who then decide as to whether you are good enough to be able to carry on. Once you have, then you are then given one out of about six Saturday night live shows in which to perform on - there are usually around 6 to ten people who perform per show. ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Britain's Got Talent"

Britain has got Talent & The X Factor.

Advantages: Great show, good judges, live shows & performances.
Disadvantages: Some horrendous acts but these do give me a few laughs.

The X Factor is a talent show which allows members of the public, who think they can sing, to come to a venue around the UK and then sing in front of the four judges to try and earn a place through to the next round & Boot Camp! Quite often there will be absolutely horrendous acts on the show who think that they can sing but they are seriously deluded! The judges will criticise them and sometimes it seems that these people just go to the auditions so that they can get themselves on the TV and I guess it does work! There are also some fantastic singers though who will give you goosebumps. Also there will be people who have applied the previous years and been rejected for various reasons and quite often these are shown on the TV so again I guess returning does work for some people! The X Factor has four judges and at present they are ...

Review of X Factor (2009)

if the X factor is so unique why do we have so many series'?!

Advantages: entertaining
Disadvantages: getting a little tedious now

I am an X factor fan, I enjoy sitting down to watch it along with a takeaway, a glass of wine and Mrs B on a Saturday night but I can't help but feel slightly less enthusiastic about it this year. I think my lack of enthusiasm may have come from the inundation of these kinds of shows which seem to go on all year long, if X Factor's not on then it's Dancing on Ice or Britain's Got Talent or A Problem Like Maria... I think I'm just a bit bored of the set up although I imagine by the time it's the live shows I will be more interested... maybe. This year the show has taken on a different format to usual- the auditions are now infront of a live audience and auditionees can have a backing track. I think that this makes the show a little less unique. Yes it may show off some people who can really get a crowd going and work an audience but ...

Review of X Factor (2009)

USA USA!

Advantages: Watching AMericans receive some home truths
Disadvantages: The wannabes....dreadful!

and for the next twelve weeks America is taken over by Idol fever...it is a real phenomenan and an amazing televisual spectacular. Adverts are dominated by the finalists and people (and even whole states) get behind contestants. The final is one of the biggest nights in American television and lasts for hours, mostly with huge amounts of commerical breaks. Some great singers have been found and made it around the world in the last few years, my favourites are Kelly Clarkson and Fantasia Burrino....both are great and give strong performances. Idol is a great show for the UK if you are missing the X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, it makes addicitive viewing, easy viewing and is a good bit of fun. Just don't be surprised to hear Simon Cowell using all of the same catch phrases as usual! Summary: Give it a go and enjoy! ...
