I joined Britannia video club after being tempted by the "amazing" offer. It consisted of 4 video's free for joining up with them as long as I purchased 4 video's over the next two years. As I am a frequent movie watcher I thought this offer was great but little was I aware of the hidden catches involved! Firstley when I received my video's I was billed for the postage and packaging of each video so that was £2.95x four, for supposedly free video's? Fair enough I paid this and enjoyed my movies.
As the months progressed I was notified that I would receive a monthly magazine with a recommended video of the month, to purchase if I wanted, all I had to do if I didn't require it was to tick the box and send it off with a stamp, this I did all the time. What I actually hadn't banked on was receiving these 3 times a month thus enabling 3 trips to the post office every month!!
Honestly this company is exasperating!! Okay so the initial offer sounds good but for all the expense of postage and then the prices of their video's after it just isn't worth it. You are better off nipping down your local woolies and buying the new releases from them.
I have since tried to get out of this company but having wrote SIX times and trying to telephone them on numerous occasions I feel utterly defeated as you can never get through to an operator when trying to phone.
Advice I would give to current members is. If they keep sending the video's either post them back through a mail box like I do WITHOUT postage or keep them, they can't prove a thing as they are not on a recorded delivery system. I must admit i haven't done the latter but I know people who are so fed up that they have.
I am surprised Britannia have been going this long because they are an absolute disgrace!!

Well back in France a guy who used to work with my dad belonged to such a club... one day he didn't send the ticked thing back, and they sent him the selection of the month, which he kept but never paid for... they sent him a lot of reminders and threatening letters, saying they would send the bailiffs.... but he never saw anyone...
Anyway, before subscribing to those "too good to be true offers", always read the small prints... and if they don't keep to their part of the contract, take them to Watchdog...
Great review thanks for warning everyone... only this way will people know what a bunch of conmen Brittania are

I have to agree with Bexxie on this one, never have I had to deal with such a lousy company.
These people are scammers to the extreme, save your money and buy from the internet, the dvd's and video's and cd's are cheaper from places such as play.com
Avoid at all cost.

I had the same trouble with Britania myself, it took me over 12 months to get rid of them :( My advice to anybody that is thinking of joining them is.. DONT. The first few free offers are not worth all the hassle that will come later. Great opinion - Thanks Donna.
