I have been with britannia rescue for nearly 20 years and in all that time i can honestly say they have never let me down when i have needed them which in the early years due to me running old bangers and dodgy motorbikes was probably a couple of times a year.

The longest i have ever waited for assistance was 35 minutes on a cold frosty boxing day a number of years ago when i totalled my motorbike into the back of a lorry. The shortest wait was amazingly 8 minutes in fact by the time I had walked back to my car from the phone box the breakdown truck was just pulling up,he was just coming back from a job when he got a call saying where i was waiting.

Their agents are very helpful and often go beyond the call of duty.On one occasion when i did some damage to one of the exhaust pipes on my motorbike all i asked for was to be transported to a local motorcycle dealer for repairs to be done. But the agent said he could help so took me and the bike back to his depot where his wife made me a cup of tea while he got his tool box out and fixed it for nothing and wouldnt even accept a few quid for a pint

Britannia rescue is owned by the CSMA which is the Civil Service Motoring Association and they have offered their services to the general public since 1984 and now have over 400,000 members.

They dont have their own vehicles but use local agents and have over 550 of them up and down the country and cover the whole of the uk and Republic of Ireland.

I have also been a member of the rac in the past whose service in my experience leaves a lot to be desired.

So you must think that for the superior service and lower call out times you will be paying a premium but you would be wrong as you can see from the price comparison below.

BRITANNIA RESCUE £71.40
GREEN FLAG £77.00
RAC £82.00
AA £84.00

These prices are for road side assistance and UK recovery. However these prices can be lower if you are a member of one of their affinity partners who will give you a discount, these are listed below

UNISON
NASUWT
RAFA
AMICUS
CSMA
NCT
sorry for the initials but if you are a member of any of these organisations you will know what they mean

This is only one of the many options they offer depending of what level of cover you require from basic assistance only through to comprehensive with hotel rooms and car hire included. You can also be covered if you travel in Europe.

I can thoroughly recommend britannia rescue to you and they can be contacted via their website at www.britanniarescue.com
or by phone on 0800 591563
Or by post to Britannia rescue

or via your rep if you are a menber of any of the above unions or organisations.

I'm in the AA. Good review though!

This sounds great but I get mine free at the moment as part of my insurance package, and who can quibble at that? Love Sharron xxx

I'm with the RAC but they aren't cheap - so I'll have to check Britannia out. Nick
