If you are considering this seat you really MUST check this list first! Firstly, lets make the naming clear...
I believe the Duo Plus is the 2004 catalog version of the Duo, this being the 2003 version. I haven't found out what the real differences are in practice, although the fabric colours have changed.
Having just bought a second car, and having found it a total pain to keep having to move car seats between the cars, I decided to get a new one for the new car.
OK, so in doing this you can guess that cost wasn't my prime concern, since you could say that two baby seats for one baby is a little extravagant!
I knew that the new car (a Skoda Octavia Estate, which I thoroughly recommend!) had Isofix capability, and I had been considering the seat for sometime. The real problem was finding somewhere local where I could see and try out the seat. It is available from quite a few internet sources at a slightly cheaper price that I paid (179GBP) but i wanted to see it "in the flesh" so to speak.
I finally found one in my local Mothercare store (Slough, Berks) which had recieved it in error in their latest delivery but had decided to put it on the shelf for the day. John Lewis also stock the seat, but haven't had one available when I've been there.
I was 99.9% certain the seat was ok for the car since it is listed on the compatibility sheet on the Britax website (but Ciao guidelines say I shouldn't include the website address - you can guess it!). If you are considering this seat you really MUST check this list first! (Incidentally, this will also tell you if you need to purchase the tether kit, which some cars require for complete installation - Cost about 15GBP I think)
I already have a Britax Rennaisance seat, and it does leave a mark on the seat. The Isofix Duo Plus doesn't which is great - its a new car after all, and with leather unholstery. The Isofix is much lighter, but when installed it is totally rigid, doesn't wobble, and really gives you confidence.
The seat does recline, but not as much as the other Britax I own, however, I think that because the the seat base is smaller, and the child sits lower (closer to the actual car seat) I think there isn't a real lot of difference. I have to say that now that this seat is installed and rarely taken out, we don't recline it at all. When we were constantly moving the other seat between cars, we did use the recline function more - now we don't. Our daughter sits lower down in the actual seat as a result of the smaller base, consequently her feet don't (yet) kick the seat-back in front, which (at the moment) means no scuffing or muddy footprints.
Because the seat fits more rigidly I suppose they have been able to make it a little smaller. It certainly seems so, it fits well, and in the pacific blue unholstery, it looks good. The shoulder strap pads and all the fixings are, in my opinion, an improvement on the already good fixings in our other Britax seat.
So what don't I like? Well I really only have one complaint (although I suppose the cost is high, but then I've already said that this was less of an issue to me), and this is that the seat rattles quite loudly when the child isn't in it. However, it hasn't (so far) been annoying enough for me to investigate to see if I can shut it up a bit.
One thing I can't tell you is how well the seat works if you use the seatbelt fixing method rather than IsoFix, since I haven't used it. I suppose I might if I were to need to put it in a friend's car for the day or something. However, I view that as a secondary consideration, and will trust Britax that its OK. Let's face it, you aren't going to buy this seat if you don't have IsoFix in your car!
Finally, we now have another little one on the way, and I can see myself buying another of these seats before the year is out. That's probably the best recommendation you'll get in this market... a repeat purchase!
Advantages: Secure, easy to fit, comfy, stylish Disadvantages: Small range of fabrics in UK
I had previously used the Britax first-stage car seat which came with our travel system, and my daughter always seemed very comfortable and secure in it. So, when she outgrew it, we looked at several brands, but we did have confidence in Britax already.
However, what swung the decision for us was safety - we looked at the encap safety ratings, and when you use the Isofix points in your car, this seat was the best in our price range. It can be used ... ...system.
We actually contacted Britax by phone to make sure that we could use the seat in our car - they do have a guide online, but it's not 100% comprehensive. We found the ladies on the phone really helpful, actually, and knowledgable.
My hubby actually fitted the seat, so will have to take his word on the ease with which this was done, but he assures me it was simple to do! Certainly getting my daughter in and out is simple - so much less hassle ...

Advantages: Very secure, easy to fit and comfortable Disadvantages: Expensive and not approved for all cars
...fitted into newer cars, and Britax publish a list of approved cars on their website so you can check if yours is suitable. Once the seat was fitted, we could actually move the car just by pulling on the seat, it was so securely attached!
The seat also has seatbelt routings, in case you need to swap it to a car without Isofix points, and it seems pretty secure this way as well.
In terms of comfort, my baby seems very comfy and will happily fall ... ...lever for adjusting the recline is behind the seat, and so it can be hard to adjust when the seat is occupied!
Although the seat is quite expensive, we shopped around and managed to buy it for £159 at Halfords.
Overall I would say it is definitely worth paying the price to feel that your baby is safe, and I would recommend this seat to anyone. ...

Advantages: When fixed on isofix point, Zafira car seats can still be pulled forward. Disadvantages: Does not recline very much.
When I bought my vaxhaul Zafira 18months ago I struggled to gain access to the boot ,as my child car seat was attached using a seat belt and this prevented the seat gliding forward. So I invested in a duo isofix and I love it so much I've just bought a 2nd one.
The seat can be used on either the isofix points or 3 point seat belt so it offers flexibility if you need to transfer into other cars.. Small disadvantage is you need to slot on a guard ... ...(This is supplied as part of the seat) I store this in my glove compartment but it means I struggle to keep all my cds in there so frustrates me a little. My little girl looks lovely and comfy in her seat and the straps do not rub at the wrong points. However It would be better if it reclined slightly more.
Fitting the car seat in the car is VERY simple after a few practise rounds. I can do mine in about half a minute, so I do not mind when hubby ...

Advantages: IsoFix Secure FittingS Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...you can check on the Britax Website for updates. We bought ours from Mothercare who actually allowed us to try the seat in our car & demonstrated how to use it.
The seat itself is very comfortable – it is adjustable so Baba can recline when sleeping. It is very easy to adjust as you just squeeze the clamp gently and bob’s your uncle.
We drive a Clio and the seat’s compact nature has made it a great choice for us. It’s not ... ...as if it was designed just for my car it looks that good. It’s sporty appearance really fits in with the look of the car. Small, compact and racy!
Fitting Baba to the seat is straightforward as long as Baba does not try & jump out! The straps are wide and cross over the hips. There are large shoulder and chest foam additional straps, which really do make my little girl look like a racing driver. Imogen always looks supremely comfortable and ...

Advantages: rock solid in car- so safe! Disadvantages: doesnt look that comfy
...had previously been using the Britax isofix cosy tot premium and had been very pleased with it. We bought it from kiddicare.com for £130 in "harold" which was a blue with small white spots. When it arrived the straps have nice chunky padding bits on them which do make it harder for the child to get their arms out of- this is a common problem with the odler age carseats! The seat in itself does not feel really padded like some other carseats but it ... ...to sleep in. Admitedly it would be nice if it could recline more but she does not seem to mind at all!
Once it is fitted in the car ( which is done very easily) it is rock solid and is so much safer than your average seatbelt types. The bonus with this seat though is that it can also be used with seatbelts! Overall we are very pleased with it and it has fitted perfectly in both our Renault Laguna and Toyota Avensis. Very usefully you can also remove ...
