A career in the British Army ?, One has to think what do you want out of life if you happy with a 9 - 5 job with the family and friends that you have grown up with, then I would not recommend it for you, If you are looking for that something else, that bit of adventure, the advantage of trying out new things in new countrys, top notch, adventure training in the kind of places that you have not ever dreamed of, then I would highly recommend it to you, but it do's not suit everybody people tend to know themselves if they have got it in them. As in life you have to take the rough with the smooth, you can end up in some very nasty places and situations, you can also end up in some fantastic places very rarely seen by other people. It has excellent holidays with 30 days paid leave and bank holidays on top of that. It's main factor is that everybody in the Army has been through the same thing to be there and we respect each other for that, there is a sense of loyalty between soldiers which to me is greater than friendship. Then there is it's pension after 22 years you can retire with full pay and a gratuity payment. Financialy secure at an age when most people are still only half way through their working life.

good opinion, most of very true, but you forgot to mention how without any notice your life can be turned upside down, if there is a problem at home you have to beg to go back! Guess I don't like the way the army treat people, I see it from a different point of view. Sorry!

Very intersting, pity you didn't say what arm you are serving in. I look back at my 22 years and think .......! Hapy New Year in 2002.

Sorry to be critical but can i just say you could have put loads more information in there about the Army and punctuation and paragraphs are essential throughout and opinion. It would have been a brilliant op if there had been more detail - it seems like a good start of a brilliant op. thanks and sorry if i have offended. Paula
Advantages: Great prospects, unlimited qualifications paid for by HM Governement, Travel, Great Pay, 30 Days paid holidays per year, Accomodation and food taken straight from your pay and its not a lot. Disadvantages: Service overseas, living in tents on Operations some times,
