Advantages Wages, Accomodation, Country's to live in

Disadvantages War,

The British Army. Be the BEST!

My husband has been in the British Army for 6 year's now.

He is in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineer's (REME). Currently he is doing a HND.

My husband has been to Iraq ad could of lost his life serving the Queen and Country.

Anyway the British Army, do pay the soldiers 24/7, 365 days a year, regardless if working or on leave. It is a secure wage guaranteed every month. The new soldier's who would of just joined up, the Private's, will be paid either weekly or monthly and not a substantial amount either, it will be enough money for them to buy there necessary item's and have soe spending money too. It's not like they can go out all the time drinking whist on Basic Training.

Once the basic training is over, you will go to do your trade training at certain places, they will be paid more money, again to buy the nessesary items and have more extra cash to go out at weekends. Once the trade is finished, they will gain an NVQ in the trade and become a Lance Corpral.

The Army, do have pay bands and increments, on the date you joined up you will get a payrise every year untill you leave the Army and you will get a payrise in april every year untill you leave the army. Also on promotion, your pay will go up.

The posting's you can get are fab, possibilities of the world, eg Germany, Canada, Cyprus, Brunai, India etc. Depending on where you would like to be posted too, and if there is any job in that country for you to do, the Army will send you where ever needed to go.

If you are married in the Army, they will provide you with adequate houses or flats that will accomadate you and the family. The houses get given out on depending on how many are in the family, for instance if there is 3 of you, you will get a 2 bed house, and so on.
The prices for accomodation is cheap, and on occasion the accomodation doesnt look nice but then again you can decorate the place.

In certain trade's, the promotion isnt as fast as others. My hubby has been in 6 years and is a Corpral, where we know some people who have been in 15 and 16 years and have just been promoted to Corpral.

There is most definatly the possability of going to war, but in this job you dont have a choice weather or not you go.

Overall, the Army has a great quality of life for families. The teenager's who dont have a clue what they want to do in lif should join the Army. The thugs on the streets nowadays should most definatly be put in the army and that may sort them out.

I dont think we would ever change being in the Army, we have lived abroad for nearly 3 years, who can complain at that?
