...I have always been a bit of a fact junkie and I love finding out new information and at Christmas I regularly receive titles like The Top 10 of Everything and the Guinness Book of Records and that is probably why this Christmas from my gran I received my first ever British Hit Singles book… …When I unwrapped the book my eyes sparkled at the bright psychedelic purpley-pink cover and then in big bold letters BRITISH HIT SINGLES. Advantages: The British during D-Day
Disadvantages: I need more!

...After reading both Band of Brothers and D-Day and enjoying them immensely I had to get my fix with another book by Stephen E Ambrose. That book was "Pegasus Bridge: D-Day - the Daring British Airborne Raid" While Band of Brothers focused on the Americans, D-Day on the all the beaches in turn, Pegasus Bridge is only about the British and their airborne raid. This was one of the most important and crucial missions on D-Day. Captain John Howard and D Company of the Ox and Bucks regiment were the first men to touch down on the French soil on D-Day. These glider borne men had to capture two bridges that would secure the flank of the whole invasion force. Had these men failed in their mission to capture the two bridges across the Caen Canal and the Orne River and hold them until reinforcements arrived, the German panzers would have been...
