From Neanderthal to Blair - A British History

Advantages: A humorously irreverent look at British history.
Disadvantages: None for me. Too English for some?

*** The Author *** Sean Lang studied history at Oxford, has written conventional history books and reviewed textbooks in The Times Educational Supplement. He has been teaching history for over twenty years in schools and university, and he thanks his students for helping to inspire him to write this entertaining history book, which is not the kind usually found in school. Other ?For Dummies? books by this engaging historian that I intend to read are European History and Twentieth Century History. *** Who Would Appreciate It? *** I believe that the readers who would appreciate this book most will have the sort of basic knowledge of British history gained by completing a British secondary school education, even if they thought history lessons were tedious and didn?t pay much attention. Try a new Language!

Advantages: fun, something new and different,
Disadvantages: can be expensive

+ What is Sign Language? + Sign Language is the language for the deaf and is also preferred by the Hard of Hearing community as well. The language is non-verbal and uses the hands and facial expressions to communicate with others. The language has developed over hundreds of years as well as creating new signs for new things in the world. Around 50,000 use British Sign Language (B.S.L) in the UK. Many of the deaf community prefer using BSL as there first language. Many people will need to encounter a deaf person at least once in their life so communication needs to be at its best for both sides of the conversations to be understood. This is why more people need to know ...

The Dummy

Advantages: Funny acting
Disadvantages: poor death scenes

When a film is written, produced, directed and starred in by one man, you get an idea that it may be a low budget smalltime movie. And in this case you would be right for assuming. However, there are many films that ar far from Hollywood blockbusters and yet still hold your attention throughout. The Dummy sits on the line for this one with a mix of funny and entertaining scenes as well as some pretty poorly acted ones. The acting quality ranges drastically throughout and features some actors who seem as if they might get somewhere half decent and others that seem to just be friends of the the director. The story is simpl and has been heard before in lots of films ecpecially budget ones. A guy's dummy starts to kill people. That's it. Not much else happens. You find out the doll was carved from voodoo relics but there is no more ...
