Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch 4/24 - switch - 16 ports

The Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch for HP c-Class BladeSystem delivers an easy to manage embedded Fiber Channel switch solution with 4 Gbps performance to HP c-Class BladeSystem customers... more...deploying a small SAN or expanding their current SAN. The Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch hot-plugs into the back of the HP c-Class BladeSystem enclosure, freeing up rack space. Server and switch interconnects internal to the BladeSystem reduce cabling, SFPs and associated costs. Shared power and cooling resources further reduce costs and additional points of failure. Employing high-speed technology for storage networking, trunking between the SAN facing ports and external HP StorageWorks B-series switches provides a higher bandwidth solution. External facing ports auto-sense lower bandwidth components for flexibility and investment protection. Previously, deployments using Fiber Channel-based high-speed storage networks connected servers to the network through ports on stand-alone switches external to the BladeSystem. Now IT managers have the ability to consolidate multiple HP servers, Fiber Channel switches, and Ethernet switches into a single platform for connectivity to the networked infrastructure at a lower cost than ever before. Multiple switches coupled with dual-redundant server connections ensure a highly available solution. This integration of technology results in space and cost savings due to a reduction of physical components, significant simplification of the SAN environment, outstanding performance, and easier deployment. Providing the best value and performance-enhancing features in a 12- to 24-port embedded SAN switch with the option to scale to larger fabrics on a "pay-as-you-grow" basis, the Brocade 4Gb SAN Switch enables increased productivity and substantial cost savings-from capital and operating expenses to overall management - benefiting organizations with limited dedicated IT staff.

Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch With Built-In Cabling

Advantages: Advantages: Cheap, all in one solution
Disadvantages: No manual overide or audio support

stops autoscanning and lets you use the currently selected PC. The Belkin claims support for scrolling mice but I did find sometimes one PC would start up without recognising this facility if it wasn't the currently selected one when booting up and in extreme cases, wouldn't recognise the keyboard and mouse at all. Previous KVM's I've used send the PC fake 'There's a keyboard and mouse here' messages when not selected and it seems this unit does not, which is a pity. Conclusion The Belkin 2 port KVM is a well built unit that works nicely and provides a great way to save desk space and the cost of a second monitor, keyboard and mouse. The long leads are useful and despite the niggles with scrolling mice and the lack of manual switch. I'd say this unit is worth considering at this price if you can live with those shortcomings ...

Review of Belkin 2-Port KVM Switch with Built-In Cabling - KVM switch - 2 ports

Ideal switch for the small business or developers

Advantages: Easy to set up, configure and use
Disadvantages: None

We currently run an 80 user network in our office. While the main traffic of our network is handled by 6, 24 port rack mounted switches, my little IT office has 7 PCs in it with not enough ports on the wall to connect them up. this poses a problem. To connect to our network, you need a network connection on the Wall. There are 4 connections in our office and 7 machines. Obviously 7 into 4 does not go so a solution was needed. The answer? A small desktop based switch that would allow us to connect up to 16 computers to one Network connection on the wall. The Product? Well we use Netgear equipment in our office because you know with Netgear, you are buying quality at an affordable price. So we opted for the FS116 Desktop Switch. The size of it? Well its about an inch high and about a foot long. It is about 6 inches from ...

Review of NETGEAR ProSafe FS116 10/100 Desktop Switch - switch - 16 ports

Switch

Advantages: Fun game for many
Disadvantages: Only when you lose

The basic method of playing Switch is the same the world over, although the choice of penalty cards does vary and in doing so causes untold confusion. I understand that this game has other names but I don't know what they are. Switch is a unique game, in that it doesn't follow the whist or rummy format, nor is it a variation of poker or brag. Any number can play but if there will be more than about 8 players, an extra pack of cards must be used. Whether the extra pack of cards has the same design on the back as the first pack, is irrelevant. The speed of the game is such, that there shouldn't be time to work out the probability of a player holding a particular card, based on the difference in the back of the card. I have played Switch as man and boy for nigh on half a century and it makes a nice change from ...
