This is a reasonably old b&wlaser printer and I picked mine up for 50 / 60 pounds off ebay about a year (or two) ago after some heavy usage in an business environment (for god knows how long). And to do this day it remains to serve me well for its primary purpose of cheap / informal printing. By this I mean, its copies, in its present state will not be completely mark free; but this is due to its age. I have found that the drum can be cleaned with a cotton bud to reduce and completely eliminate most if not all marks, since these are mainly / solely from dried ink on the drum. But it is a little tedious.
It’s truly easy to use; you turn it on, you press print, it prints and you turn it off, it’s that simple, and as such great for quick printing. I have had it ‘go weird’ now and again a few times (all printers seem to have a mind of their own in this sense and are determined to use all your good paper for printing one line of rubbish on each) but whenever this happens turning it off and on usually rectifies this problem without to much hassle. If a paper jam occurs its easy to yank out and by holding down the one sole button on the printer (not that difficult to find!) for 5 – 7 seconds, it starts it off again no problem.
Despite looking completely battered and not giving completely perfect copies (although I do use it to print non colour reports) this is a great printer for the one reason lasers are so great, they are cheap and print 1000’s of pages on a £20 toner. I think some people have to consider what they actually use their printer for and if its worth buying a £40 inkjet only to fork out another £20+ on a cartridge in the not to distant future. Even if you do print photo’s, why not have a laser for that mass of b/w copying your be doing most of the time?!
