Im on my second brother printer now and I really can't fault them!!! Having attached it with the supplied USB cable, Windows XP immediately recognised this and was able to use it immediately!
Personally I only use it for documents, envelopes and labels but then what else is there. It is very reliable, cheap to buy and quite versatile.
Graphics wise you may come unstuck as it only has 4 MB of memory on board but then as long as you don't want picture perfect photos you will be OK.
As an alternative you could opt for the next model up which is the Brother HL-1440, however, considering this costs approximately another £100, I don't consider this to be good value.
Anyway, buy one now as they really are a bargain!!!
