The HL-2400CE series is the inaugural color laser printer from Brother. While this color printer quickly handles black text at 16 pages-per-minute, it also delivers vivid color at 4ppm. To provide this type of print speed, this unit comes standard with a high-powered 100Mhz SPARClite processor developed by Sun MicroSystems. It uses four different toner cartridges to deliver accurate color and balanced monochrome output. Built with Brother's Advanced PhotoScale Technology - a system that provides the right amount of ink necessary to duplicate the original - the HL-2400CE is the perfect addition to any graphics or corporate communications department. Another notable feature is the printer's resolution. At 300 dots-per-inch resolution, this unit produces rich, vibrant color and when you need to print monochrome images or black text, it turns up the speed to 1200dpi.

Advantages: CHEAP ALTERNATIVE TO INKJET

...Im on my second brother printer now and I really can't fault them!!! Having attached it with the supplied USB cable, Windows XP immediately recognised this and was able to use it immediately! Personally I only use it for documents, envelopes and labels but then what else is there. It is very reliable, cheap to buy and quite versatile. Graphics wise you may come unstuck as it only has 4 MB of memory on board but then as long as you don't want picture perfect photos you will be OK. As an alternative you could opt for the next model up which is the Brother HL-1440, however, considering this costs approximately another £100, I don't consider this to be good value. Anyway, buy one now as they really are a bargain!!!... Read review

What a corker!

Advantages: Fast, Cheap, Reliable
Disadvantages: As with all lasers, the toner cost

...I bought the Brother HL-2030 in October 2005, having hankered after a laser for months. I was fed up of my inkjet printer letting me down (will review that after) so I thought that a laser would make life easier. It certainly did! It can operate at speeds of up to 16 pages per minute which is far more than adequate for me. I also use the printer for school projects and find that the printoffs are of a good quality which *is* required. I have recently bought a toner cartridge for around £45 (although you can proably get them cheaper) which I was ready for (if you did not appreciate the costs involved, it could prove a shock). Overall, I find the HL-2030 to be a great product.... Read review

Advantages: cost effective printing, easy to install,
Disadvantages: Bulky

...The Brother HL-1030 Laser Printer represents excellent value for money and produces excellent print outs at an affordable cost. It boasts 10 pages per minute but in reality it is about 8 PPM for an average text doccument. Toner cartridges are about £35 each and will last for about 4000 pages. The printer setup allows you to make 25% or 50% toner saving, this produces a lighter more grey print but is excellent for draught copies. Printing on full toner produces print outs comparable with much more expensive printers. Connects via USB or serial port and is simple to install. Paper jams are rare but easily cleared....
