The Brother HL-2400C printer uses four mono-component toners contained in newly designed spill-resistant cartridges, color-coded and keyed to prevent improper installation. They are conveniently accessed from the printer's front panel, by the user. Brother's unique color Advanced Photoscale Technology (CAPT) smoothes edges and enhances image quality, providing the HL-2400C with 2,400dpi class printing. It also uses enhanced memory management technology which compresses the image and creates an even faster throughput. The HL-2400C is one of the first desktop laser printers to print full color at 4ppm - the fastest performance in its class, thanks in part, to its SPARClite processor. Monochrome is at 16ppm, the latter speed out-pacing most office mono printers. Transparencies can be created at 2ppm (full-color) and 8ppm (Mono). Thanks to the HL-2400C's long-lasting toner cartridges, per-page costs when printing black only are comparable to those of an ordinary mono laser printer and the overall cost per page is much lower than that of color inkjet printers. In addition, Intelligent Sleep Mode, manual duplex, Poster printing, "2 in 1" and "4 in 1" printing capabilities, offer even further economies, particularly for draft printing.
Advantages: Fast and Reliable. Reprint and Dual side functions Disadvantages: Large Footprint, and noisy
...My old Epson finally gave up the ghost around 10 months ago, which lead me to look for a new Printer to hopefully last me the next 5 years.
I eventually chose the BrotherHL6050. Although this machine is probably the largest of the ones I looked at, it is by far the best. 42cm deep, and 31 cm tall.
The BrotherHl 6050 is a mono laser printer, and cost me £299 from dabs.com.
Incredibly quick printing, for the price (24ppm - pages per minute), and a paper tray which holds a full ream (500 sheets).
You can use traditional cables, or USB or Infra red. I use USB, as this is very quick and reliable, unlike the infrared.
One very useful function is the reprint function. If you have just printed out a document, and need another, simply press the reprint button, tell it how many copies you require, and press go...

Advantages: Quick, good quality printouts Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to last very long
...The BrotherHL-1050 is a fairly good laser printer. I've had mine for just over two years and in that time I've had no problems with it until recently.
It can be connected via either parallel port or USB, comes with 4MB of memory and has a claimed print speed of 10ppm with a maximum resolution of 1200x600dpi. It is fast and handles text superbly and graphics adaquately. Toner cartridges are twenty five quid a throw and last a couple of thousand pages (I think) depending on print density and stuff like that. The printer driver offers a useful little window that opens and tells you the status of the printer (if it's asleep, if the toner is low, if the paper is jammed, etc).
It is a quick printer, but it's not that small with a footprint of roughly 14.5" x 14.5" and a height of approximately 11". It's not quiet either. The paper...

Advantages: Clear copy, smooth action, very quiet Disadvantages: paper tray extends out the back making for a larger footprint
...Overall Satisfaction
I purchased my BrotherHL-1230 brand new and have never regretted it. While I have used other laser printers in the office, this one is great for both home and office use. Would give high recommendations for anyone running an office from their home or small business.
Speed and Print Quality
This is not really a machine designed for high volume office use as the speed is not overly fast. At high quality (600x600dpi), the machine normally puts out about 10-12 ppm. It does offer a small degree of flexibility in the details of photo printing and the quality desired ranging from draft to picture options. It comes with 2MB of onboard ram with those wanting a little more out of the machine able to get it in the next upgrade found on the HL-1240 which puts out 14ppm and has 4MB of ram.

Both my partner and I had been using the Dell all-in-one printer than came with her computer for some time. It was ok. It obviously printed in colour and had a scanner. However, I was becoming pretty annoyed at how much ink it used up when only... more
I've wanted a new printer for a while but am fed up of paying more for print cartridges than the printer itself so I have ordered and just received a Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer.

Recently, brother have been re-designing their printers and their all in ones.
This HL4040CN, has just been re-designed and now looks better and works better.
The design shape of this, is basically a big box. And it is big because this printer is for more
This is a printer built to replace the earlier models. It now comes in what looks like trendy grey, but dont let that make you buy it. It is a very good little workhorse and works best with (in my experience) original toners and drums BUT the memory is more
