Advantages: Easy, compact, simple
Disadvantages: cant think of any

...I have to say a very reliable, compact and efficient all in one system. This printer was easy to install, cartridges were affordable and easy to change, didnt take up a huge amount of room. Paper jams were easy to clear. The control panel is clear and easy to use, it certainly didnt take a brain surgeon. I liked the fact you could use it as a stand alone copier, it doesnt have to be connected to the PC in order to copy or to open memory cards from cameras, it would happily print off an index from a memory card without having to access your PC. My printer did eventually die after about 3 years, but i was so impressed I have updated to the Brother models, having had Lexmark and others previously I would definately stay with Brother from now on.... ...Both I and a friend bought this printer, we have also had all the same problems with it, first was that the fax function would not work, Brother tell us that it's not compatible with our broadband set up (though they are different isp's) and offered no solutions, so i take it it will not work with broadband at all.next was the paper feed, this was dreadfull sometimes it would not feed the paper at all, and most other times it would feed it crooked no matter how much care was taken while loading it. then there is the ink cartridges which seemed to clog regularly giving poor print, the screen will tell you that ink is low, but will then refuse to recognise that the cartridge has been replaced, mine currently has a new set in but wont print because it thinks it's empty. with all these problem Brother have been less than helpfull and i would...
