Brothers in arms is an absolutely fantastic game to play on the Nintendo DS and unlike the game Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix the graphics are amazingly good.
I am a big fan of war games such as Medal of Honour, Call of Duty and Brothers in arms. Brothers in arms was the first war/shooter game i had purchased for my Nintendo DS and i was definately damn well impressed. The deaths look real, the explosions sound cool and it's fun when you get to drive a car and a tank.
Up's - superb graphics : the Nintendo DS in my opinion has notoriously bad graphics when playing certain games such as Harry Potter. So when i inserted the game into my Nintendo DS i was pleasantly surprised to find well structured images and no flaky outlines of the buildings, people, tanks, etc.
sound : very realistic, the nintendo DS seldom adds speaking to it's games but on Brothers in arms you are privy to a few shouts from your commander. The soundtracks which accompany the game are superb and when the volume is turned on full you can really be immersed in the game and believe you are killing those Germans.
difficulty : you get the option to switch to normal or veteran, i love war games but i'm not particularly good at them so i always switch to the easiest option. For those of you who arent that good either then this game presents a challenge, however, you can easily overcome your troubles by trying a few times. In my opinion the veteran mode gives you a really good challenge but that's coming from someone who is completely rubbish without an easy mode option.
Downs - Campaigns : On completing the game i was a little dissapointed to find that Brothers in Arms only contains three campaigns (Normandy, Tunis and Ardennes) . Normandy is the shortest campaign and from the Tunis and Ardennes campaign you get about 6 missions out of them. each mission can be completed in around 15 minutes.
controls - The nintendo DS makes a bit fiddly business of moving your character. You use the arrows to move your character, stylus to look around and L1 to fire. to change weapon there is an option on the screen which you click on with your stylus. It all takes some getting used to and your hand cramps a bit from time to time but this is one game that does justice to your nintendo DS... or should that be the other way around.
Price - you can get this game for around £15, well worth the money.
Good review of a fantastic game! I agree that the controls are fiddly which is annoying when you're being pummelled by German gun fire and close to losing a life!!!!
