The Brown Brothers Cabernet Sauvignon which I have tasted was the vintage 2000. They have other vintages and the latest one could possibly be the 2001.
Cabernet Sauvignon is a red grape, and this wine is made of it, so basically it’s red wine.( although some wines are made of Cabernet Sauvignon, they turn out white, as it depends on the vintners).

This brand was famous, famous enough to me and for me to know even before i have ever tasted any of thier wines. It does not need massive advertisements, or whatsoever. All it needs is just to make great wines, like it has done sucessfully for around 115 years.
The Brown Brothers Wine Company was founded in 1889 and is still family owned. This brand is today’s Australia’s largest producer of varietal wines. It is also the best selling brand in New Zealand, and some parts of Asia.
The location of this vineyard is in Victoria, southeast of Australia. Victoria is a part of Melbourne and this vineyard is specifically located at Milawa, near the Australian Alps. The location of vineyards provide a cool climate, proper for the Cabernet to grow very well in these soils and weather conditions.
Packaging: It comes in a simple, normal looking bottle, almost black in colour, with a black foil cap around the neck, and 2 yellow coloured labels on the body. One label states the Brown Brothers usual logo, and the other is a ‘V’ shaped label, stating the type of variety grapes used for the wine. There’s also stated, ‘Victoria’ estate bottled, to show that is it bottled in that particular region in Australia. Once opened, the cork also has the Brown Brothers logo printed on.
The contents: The wine comes in a 750ml capacity with 13.5/14% Alc.Vol. of Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. Cabernet is the king of all red grapes and cabernet gives this wine the colour, aging potential, full flavour, texture and tannins.
Tasting Notes: Colour- Dark Crimson, medium bodied, beautiful tannins Nose – Berries, Oak, Fruity, Flowery Palate – Dry hints, blackberry, strawberry, plum Finish – Smooth, Long Ratings – A good cabernet indeed. 7.5/10. I would definitely recommend this one.
Other useful suggestions: Since this is a cabernet sauvignon, if you have kept this for more than 5 years after the vintage, I suggest you decant it first. 5 years or more would possibly leave this red wine to mature enough and to be drunk. Cabernet needs aging and it would be benefit from proper aging. Once decanted, aerate it for about 10 minutes or so and I suggest serving it at a room temperature or 18-20 degrees Celsius. This cabernet should not have a problem being served in a red Bordeaux glass, the one with a large bowl and only being filled two-third. It definitely goes along well with a variety of red meat dishes. Combining it with beef stroganoff, pork chops or chicken should not be a problem at all. Although it is an Aussie wine, it goes along well with Spanish, Italian, or German food.
Their website however is certainly not advisable to be visited, unless if you might just like to download their label of just to have a look at their range of wines. Certainly, it isn’t worth the visit, as the website is unattractive, and equipped with somewhat helpful information. However, i got the picture of the bottle from their website just to give you guys a peek and have an idea how it looks like.
Price? I got mine for around 8GBP, so it should be around that price. It might seems quite expensive as other reds might offer a better value at around 4-6 GBP. It's rather expensive compared to others, but for quality wise, i would'nt mind paying a little more for it. At the present moment, more brands in Australia are coming up, so if BB wants to compete, it has to lower the price to give a better offer to customers.
Besides tasting this Cabernet, I have also tried their Orange Muscat sweet wine which I find it very tasty, very satisfying and I highly recommend it.
Brown Brothers wines are difficult to find in my place, however, if search thoroughly, one should be able to get their hands on a bottle. It is not really widely sold.
This is a cabernet, and cabernet usually taste great to most people and is easy to suite anyone's palate. If you're a beginner, this wine should be fine.
Advantages: strong, tasty Disadvantages: gets ya plastered
I spotted this wine in my local off license, it was sitting in the \"imported\" section under Australian wine, I am not a fan of Australian wine, but this one has changed my mind.
The bottle is a standard 75cl bottle, and the label is plain and boring, nothing about it makes it jump off the shelf. I picked it up anyway and had a read, 14.5% proof
WOW 14.5% is very high alcohol content for a wine, so I decided to buy it. It was a little expensive ... ...I was having a special evening, I got it anyway.
Now, Cabernet Sauvignon is a favourite wine of mine, because, it is not really a histamine producing wine like a Merlot or a Chablis is, so I will wake up the day after with no blocked nose.
I opened the bottle and left it to breathe for a few hours, then poured it. The bouquet was amazing, there was a really strong blackcurrant smell from it, and this carried over to the taste. Although the wine ...

Advantages: Big fruit favour Disadvantages: not a long taste
...a long time in Melbourne, Brown Bothers is well known to me but I had never had this vintage. Its colur is very good; a nice deep red/purple and the nose is also likewise very good but the taste is excellent. I have tried a large number of other cabernets from Australia and California and it is easily the equal of many other wines at twice the price.
Drink up and enjoy!! ...
