I do like the odd glass of wine and up until last week, I only really drunk Rose wine as it was the only type I liked. While having dinner at my parent's house, my Mum told me to try some new red wine they had bought. I am a firm believer in always trying something once (despite the fact I normally hate red wine) and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised, I actually liked the wine.

Brown Brothers
Brown Brothers are famous for producing Australia's most seasoned and diverse range of wines. The company was established in 1889 by John F Brown and is now being run by the third generation of the Brown family. Apparently this wine won the 2005 bronze medal.

Packaging
The bottle is dark green and to be honest, it doesn't really look that enticing when looking for it on the supermarket shelf. Brown Brother is written across the front of the bottle on a yellow label, with Australia written underneath that. There is a yellow strip of label around the bottom half of the bottle and Cienna 2006 is printed on this.
On the back of the bottle, there is a description of the wine which reads 'Cienna will remind you of summer, fresh rips cherries and juice berries. It is gently sparkling, smooth and soft with a refreshing finish. Chill and enjoy with or without food.'

Price
At Tesco, this wine costs £4.99 for a 750ml bottle which I think is a reasonable price but I am yet to see it on any sort of special offer.

Cienna
This wine gets it name from the Cienna and Cabernet grapes that are used to make it. The grapes are harvested from March through to May at temperatures between 13c - 15c. This wine has an alcohol content of 5.5%.

Smell
Upon opening the bottle, you are hot with a very fruity smell and can definitely smell the cherries and raspberries in the wine and a slight underlying hint of spices. It smells very refreshing and certainly makes your taste buds tingle.

Taste
This wine is perfect for the summer as it is very fruity and light. It is strange because it is slightly sparkling once the wine hits your tongue but then this sensation soon disappears and you are left with a very smooth wine that goes down far too easily. I have never come across a red wine that is sparkling but it works really well with this wine and makes it a very refreshing drink.
The wine is a very dark red colour, almost the colour of beetroot.

To Serve
This wine has to be chilled to get the best out of it. I know most red wines are meant to be kept at room temperature but this one definitely benefits from being chilled before you drink it.

My Opinion
This wine is now one of my favourite, taking over from my usual Rose wine. The fruit, sparkling sensation leave such a refreshing taste in your mouth that you are hardly aware that you are drinking alcohol.
I love the fact that this wine is slightly sparkly but also extremely smooth. You can really taste the variety of berries used to make the wine and the morello cherries that are used to make it, give it a smooth fruity twist like I have never tasted before.
If you are not a fan of red wine, I challenge you to try this and not like it!!
