This interactive toy was bought for my youngest son buy his godfather. As with all children's toys nowadays it came packaged in a cardboard box with what seemed at the time to be hundreds of these annoying little ties. You think you've done them all when you come across another one. Anyway, after 30 minutes of unwrapping this toy we were greeted with a very colourful shape sorter dumper truck.
At the front of the truck you have a little yellow bear "Bruin" in an orange hard hat. The orange and purple dumper section of this toy can be tilted but a little pink lever on the right hand side of the truck, this allows the back flap to open and the four shapes inside to tumble onto the floor. Again, I have spent locating these as well. On top of the dumper section is a saw, hammer and drill, these are all buttons which you can push and they then make their appropriate sounds.
On the right hand side of the truck is what looks like an orange giraffe, although the neck isn't quite long enough. The giraffe is holding a spade and there is a pile of rubble directly in front of him. If you press the giraffe you will hear what sounds like digging of rubble. On the left hand side of the truck what can only be described as a green zebra is holding a pneumatic drill. Once again if you press the zebra you will hear the sound of the drill at work, although personally it sounds more like a lion roaring.
Now turning our attention to the shapes to be sorted, there is a yellow circle, an orange square, a blue hexagon and a pink triangle. These shapes are not all they seem to be. Staring with the circle, when you look at it seems to have an eye, a green beak and a purple wing. When you depress the wing the circle pops into a little chick, squeeze it shut and we have a circle again ready for popping into the truck. As you push the shape through its correct slot you'll here a boing noise. Now for the square, again there is an eye and what looks like a green wing, so we twist the wing and it turns into a fish. Once again, squeeze shut and pop through the correct slot on the truck, once again you will here the boing. The blue hexagon has a purple handle thing on top of it, which when turned will produce a tortoise, once again it is easy to close and can be place through its correct slot, the same boing once will sound. So lastly we have the triangle. This shape has an eye and a green crescent shape on it, when pushed down this also turns into a fish as with the other three shapes this one is just as easy to close and when popped through its slot will give a rippling noise.
The truck is very robust and has tolerated a lot of banging into walls and so-called fights with the Bob the Builder vehicles and is still in one piece with no apparent damage or loose bits hanging off. The vehicle is free wheeling and easily moves across the floor whether on carpet or wood, and has provided many hours of entertainment for both my boys. The truck requires 2 AA batteries, are easily fitted in the screwed closed base. The truck is sold in Babies R Us part of Toys R Us at a price of £12.99.
The colours as you can see in the picture are very bright and a bit too loud for my liking but I realise that this truck is suitable for children from 6 months upwards, and therefore has to be brightly coloured. Considering the enjoyment, robustness and reliability of the toy I would say that it is well worth its £12.99 price tag. We've owned this toy for a good 18 months and there are no obvious scratches or damages to the vehicle, all the buttons and noises work perfectly. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an interactive toy with longevity.
